A new positron emission computed tomography (PET) agent achieves “exceptional” imaging quality of lesions in patients with kidney cancer, according to new work published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine. The agent 68Ga-DPI-4452, or Debio 0328, was found to be better than standard CT imaging for patients with clear cell renal cell cancer (ccRCC), which accounts for the majority of renal cell cancers. Up to one-third of patients with ccRCC develop metastases, resulting in poor prognosis. Although ablative surgery is effective, it can be difficult to identify the extent of disease spread. A blog written by kidney cancer patient Kirsty Neilson My journey begins My story began back in 2021. I was having an ultrasound for my endometriosis and the sonographer found fluid on my left kidney. The sonographer informed me that usually fluid is a sign of a kidney stone, however they couldn’t see one so she would get my consultant to investigate. I never heard anything, so assumed all was well. Throughout 2022 I kept getting abdominal pain and occasional back pain. When I went to the GP’s, they did urine samples, there was traces of blood but again I thought it was my endometriosis and di ..read more

Recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine, findings from the pivotal phase 3 trial, KEYNOTE-564, underscore a crucial development in adjuvant therapy for patients diagnosed with clear-cell renal-cell carcinoma (ccRCC) at high risk for recurrence. Led by Dr. Toni Choueiri, the study demonstrates the remarkable efficacy of pembrolizumab, an immunotherapy drug, in extending overall survival rates following surgical intervention. Patients administered pembrolizumab exhibited a notable 38% reduction in the risk of mortality compared to those receiving a placebo. This pivotal trial r ..read more

A blog by Charlotte Connolly In January 2019 I asked my husband to leave. And my journey began! I was working as an Education Welfare Officer travelling around schools, which I had been doing for nearly 20-years, when one day out of the blue I began bleeding heavily to the point where I needed to take a change of clothes wherever I went! This went on for nine-weeks when in the end one of the secretaries made me ring the NHS helpline. They told me to ‘go to your local A&E immediately.’ Due to my personal situation, I hadn’t told my parents about my husband leaving and I was the mother of th ..read more
