Achieving Racial Unity

I have a lot of concerns about the way I see society as a whole and numerous Baha'is discuss race. Often, in conversations with my Baha'i peers, we only talk about how the white man is evil and is solely responsible for every disparity seen among blacks and whites. In conversations with Bahai's, Shoghi is often quoted saying: "Let the white make a supreme effort in their resolve to contribute their share to the solution of this problem, to abandon once for all their usually inherent and at times subconscious sense of superiority, to correct their tendency towards revealing a patronizing attit ..read more

Baha’i schools in US

Hello all, I am a Baha’i and have worked as a teacher in the public school system for most of my professional life. After having children of my own I am unsure if I want them to be in our public school district due to a number of issues. That being said, I am wondering if there are any Bahai schools for children or if anything like this has happened anywhere else? I would be happy to dedicate my time and skills to make something like this a reality and would move states if it meant my children receive an education alongside others Bahais. Just throwing this out there and seeing where it may l ..read more

Allowances for "sunset" for the Declaration of the Bab at far latitudes

I know Baha'u'llah made allowances for standardizing to "normal" sunset for prayer in places where the day grows very long or short: does anyone know if we can apply this to our commemoration of the Declaration of the Bab? 2:11 after our fairly northern sunset is 10:50pm, but if we could instead do 2 hours after a "sunset" normalized to say Shiraz sunset, it would be 8:01pm. Much more attendable by community members! Anyone heard anything on this matter? And what do friends in the far north or south do? Your times have got to be approaching midnight... submitted by /u/finnerpeace [visit redd ..read more

Why do so many Bahais in Germany west the Kufiya?

Hey I am a Israeli and I visited my family and friends in Frankfurt/Germany last week. My sister has some Bahai friends that she ain’t in touch anymore because of the conflict. They started to wear the Hamas shawl and went very often to the protests. I always had a lot of respect for the Bahais and I love the gardens but a Kufiya is a CLEAR political statement… I talked with my uncle the other day who is a official member of the Knesset and he told me that Bahais are usually clearly non political… I really don’t know how to stand know because I always loved to talk to the Bahais in Haifa but ..read more

Why do you believe Bahaullah to be a Prophet?

I'm not Bahai, I'm in fact a Catholic, but was looking into other faiths and why they believe what they believe, and eventually stumbled upon the Bahai Faith. I've found your faiths teachings of the Unity of the Humanity to be a beautiful value that we Catholics share (unfortunately though, alot of us blatantly ignore that value). I found the idea of progressive revelation to be interesting as well. My question would be, why do you believe the Bab and Bahaullah to be Prophets? Are there documented prophecies that came to pass? Any biblical passages that clearly apply to either? Anyway, thank ..read more

Why the hate against covenant breakers?

I haven't declared yet -- but I've had profound spiritual and emotional experiences over the past few days, and I've been drawn to the Bahá'í faith for a few months. I have come to believe that God is worshipped by billions around the world, though He is called by many different names. Allah, Jesus, Brahman, so on. All, however, worship the one and the same God. Surely this includes covenant breakers, past (Sunnis & Protestants and such) and present, no? Are their views never valid? I feel there is an atmosphere of hatred towards those who believe in God differently than we do, whether fo ..read more

I think to be baha'i

I used to be a Christian, but I lost my faith two years ago and became an atheist. However, a couple of months ago, I started reading about the Baha'i Faith and its teachings from Baha'u'llah. I've read the Kitab-i-Aqdas, the Kitab-i-Iqan, and some other tablets and prayers and I think its a beautiful religion and express a lot of my beliefs, but I'm having a few issues that are keeping me from converting. Firstly, I struggle with the concept of God. I've read arguments for God's existence, but they seem illogical to me, and I can't bring myself to believe in them. Secondly, I don't agree wit ..read more
