Do you believe in Hell?

I myself am not religious, but if I were I think my biggest problem with it would be the existence of Hell because it would completely contradict the notion of God being all-loving. How can an all-loving God possibly condemn people who can only commit finite crimes to infinite torture? And how can all our lives' actions possibly be summed up to either deserving eternal torture or eternal happiness? Of course this would depend on your exact belief of what Hell is, the Hell I am imagining is a realm of eternal torture that the Bible describes, "furnace of fire", "tormented with fire and brimsto ..read more

Has God ever told you what you can and can not watch/listen to?

I'm curious if anyone has ever had God talk to them directly and tell them what they can and can not watch or listen to. I'm putting away secular music again until I can have a full conversation or at least know if God is okay with me listening to some forms of music that are not Christian. submitted by /u/LopsidedAd8277 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

A few years ago I repented to God then Prayed for help, "I was until then an Atheist." I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in Perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed.", and what I felt from Jesus when I Held him was unlike Anything I've Ever felt before - A Lifetime of Love Every Second - It brought me to Sobbing and it changed my life, Forever. I've had Many experiences since, "Several witnessed". A voice Spoke Clearly into my ear, "Go Visit Your Father Today.", hours before he passed. When I prayed if I could leave this world my body spo ..read more

Aside from the occasional "Hissssssss burn the heretic!" comments I get on here, most of the sub seems willing to engage on the topics I put forth, and getting on honest view of what others believe and why is incredibly interesting. Thank you so much to those who openly and honestly discuss their faith submitted by /u/Responsible_Dig_585 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Can I be a Christian if I don't believe in Free Will?

You know I know plenty of Christians and I really envy them sometimes because of their strong morals and faith. I think it is something humans need in order to "function" best. So I wanted to see if I could also become a Christian. I also considered Islam but upon closer study had too many issues with it that I don't think I need to go in depth on here. What led me to Christianity was that I basically think that Jesus is awesome. And that's pretty much the main reason. However when I thought about God, the questions just kept piling up. My main issue was that I strongly believe that there is ..read more

Why are American Evangelical Christians so fearful and insecure? Where is the confidence and security that should come from their trust in God?

American Evangelicals are terrified of everything that they aren't disgusted by - and so many of them seem to be completely enslaved by their disgust response. I flat-out don't get it. Evangelicals believe they alone have the truth. They believe they have the correct interpretations of scripture. They believe they are righteous, following God's commands, and have secured salvation. Why, then, are so many of them legitimately offended or upset by any violation of a social norm? Why would a person of God lose their cool and become confrontational simply because another person had different hair ..read more

I’m not a Christian

I’m not a Christian, yet the ideology is truly one of the most beautiful things I’ve heard of and thought about. The thought of if I put my faith in God, and/or his son. That I will be given eternal life. Despite everything you go through, the worst pain imaginable. Anything, yet, if in your heart you truly repent and believe you will be saved no matter who you are, what you look like and have been through. I’ve heard in the Bible you are recommended to pray constantly throughout the day. It’s just amazing. Like he’s your impenetrable shield, and all-piercing spear. He’s far above you, yet st ..read more

Monarchia of the Father: A quick explanation of the Orthodox understanding of the Trinity

There is one God, and that God is the Father. The Father is autotheos, meaning God in himself, so the divine nature exists within him. The Son and the Spirit are also God, but only in that they share the Fathers nature, and are so God as they are extensions of the Father. They are not autotheos. Because of this, there are not multiple Gods, but one God, the Father. submitted by /u/Monke-Mammoth [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
