Hey. Long story short, next April 11th i will be meeting some friends and for some reason we are sprinting 100m to see who's the fastest (boys will be boys). I'm very athletic, fast and strong in general, but i do calisthenics. Last time i ran there were dinosaurs walking all through Pangea. They "predicted" a top 1-4 from fastest to slowest and they placed me last. Now i gotta prove them wrong! I've started doing squats and i'm gonna start doing spin bike at home on the days i don't do calisthenics, but i've been doing my research and i've stumbled upon Pliometrics, and i think that's my bes ..read more

Pull ups, variations of pushups, dips, chin ups., ab work. This is all I've been doing since I started working out almost 5 months ago. I wanna workout 6 days a week. Can I pull it off? There are mixed responses about doing strength training almost daily. About how at least 48 is required for recovery. On the other, there's some people saying that they workout everyday. I need to be doing something physically active 6 days out of the week to make my mental stressors to subside. Pushing something, lifting heavy, smashing or hitting something in order to calm down a bit. Working out is my outle ..read more

First off, I'm gonna give some background information just for context. I am a 35 year old male. My height is 5ft 8 inches and my current weight is 207. Two months ago I was 230lbs. Instead of eating processed junk food and sugar I limited my food intake to only meat(beef), eggs, fruits, and vegetables. Also I stopped drinking diet mountain dew and switched to flavored water. When i was 22 years old I had a spinal cord stroke, which almost paralyzed me permanently but thank God I was eventually able to walk again. Bc of the stroke, I lost all feeling below the belt and the ability to have kid ..read more

Is your "Pumped up" version a future version of yourself ?

Hello everyone, I train for almost one year now M26 and I was looking at me in the mirror, just after my workout. I was wondering if the physique you have right after a workout (With your muscles "pumped up" - not sure if this is the right term as I'm not a native english speaker sorry -) will be your "rested" physique if you stick to your routine for a while ? I mean for sure your muscle will grow and take volume if you train regulary but will it grow exactly like this or in another way, maybe more volume and less sharp ? Thanks for the answers, and sorry if it is unclear ! submitted by /u ..read more

Stuck at doing 4 rep of push-ups?

Hello! I’ve been working out at home, starting from zero. I started with incline pushups 3x10, but my left forearm started to hurt. (It seems I have a nerve problem). I switched to knee pushups, and eventually came back to incline pushups since they were harder, and my arm seemed ok. I then started to do 1 set of regular pushups, 1 set of incline, and 1 set of knee pushups. I started with 4-5 regular (but ugly) pushups, eventually I was able to go up to 6, I even went up to 9 once. I then started to correct my form, and averaged 5-6 good form pushups. But now, it seems my body won’t go past 4 ..read more

Extensive body heat while sleeping after an evening workout?

Recently I've been having an issue with my body severely overheating during sleep. I will wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, having to removing layers of clothing and covers, despite both being pretty thin already for the time of year. Recently I hurt my foot while skipping rope, so I had to stop doing my evening for two weeks cardio sessions, which I would usually do around 2 hours before sleep (basically in between the end of the "productive" part of my evening and the beginning of the "chill" part). And suddenly... I could sleep again, no problem. Then I got back into do ..read more

Gaining Muscle After 50 Need Help, Best Supplements? Protein Powder ect..

I was always in excellent shape as teen and 20s. After getting married, having kids and life.. didn't workout for a couple decades and still had strength but gained over 80lbs. I tried yoyo diets for a few years. Then finally got fed up and basically starved myself down to a healthy weight. Unfortunately now I lost like 70% of the strength I once has and most of my muscle with the unwanted fat. But I am finding it extremely challenging returning to anytime of workout routine that I once was accustomed to when I was younger. Need help and advice on how to stabilize my metabolism. While extreme ..read more

Hello everyone just wanted to say hi! It’s been a while since I’ve done any sort of strength training. I used to lift weights inconsistently consistent throughout my 20s and was one of those skinny fat dudes. I think they call that a sleeper build? Anyway I’ve been spiraling around calisthenics for a few months now and doing some research. I decided that this is where I want to start with my fitness journey in my 30s (along with lots of running cause I enjoy it). I’m so grateful I found this sub! I’m starting with the calisthenics RR program on here, and I bought a basic pull up/dip bench and ..read more
