How the Solea All-Tissue Laser Fits In By Timothy Anderson, DDS | Missouri River Dental PATIENT CENTERED, TECHNOLOGY-DRIVEN CULTURE A few years ago, I did the crazy thing of starting a dental practice from scratch. Naturally, there were some hurdles and struggles, specifically doing my own hygiene for a year. It also came with a lot of benefits, one of which was having the freedom and the ability to create a unique culture around the vision and mission of my practice. I started looking at my patients for reasons why they visit the dentist. What drives them? What do they value? We soon found ou ..read more

BENEFITS OF ANESTHESIA-FREE RESTORATIONS Solea enables fast, reliably anesthesia-free cavity preps which improves both the patient and physician experience. Excluding the shot and the drill from routine procedures creates a less stressful, more comfortable, shorter visit for patients.  For the dentist, patients are often easier to treat when they are not anxious. Shorter appointment times also increase productivity by enabling the physician to see more patients per day and perform more procedures in one visit.   THE CASE: CLASS II COMPOSITE RESIN RESTORATION A 32-year-old female pati ..read more

When people think of the dentist, they often think of having a cavity filled, which inevitably leads to thoughts of pain, anxiety over the needle, and the distressing sound of the drill. If they’re in a situation where they’ve had soft tissue surgery, they may also think of stitches and the taste of blood. Overcoming these negative associations and providing a caring, comfortable environment where patients are happy to return is a challenge for many dental practices. The best way to remove these obstacles is to take the drill, noise, needle, sutures, and pain out of dental visits. Solea is the ..read more

BY: ANTHONY BOLAMPERTI, DDS Omaha Laser Dentistry | Solea Dentist since 2016 Every doctor who invests in a Solea dental laser has a transformation. Every transformation may be a little different, but they all have common threads that tie us together. My transformation began earlier than most. Fifteen years ago, I decided I wanted to be a laser dentist, starting out with a little tabletop soft tissue diode laser. It was a fiber tip so it was charring tissue, but for $6,000-7,000, I felt it was doing what I needed. Then I invested in a DEKA laser, which is a 10.6 micron CO2 laser that strictly ..read more

Safer with Solea: Less Viable Pathogens vs. the High Speed Dental Drill
Convergent Dental Blog

Convergent Dental has studied the dental aerosols and splatter created by Solea in several ways. Research was published in OAJDS showing Solea reduces the amount, speed and displacement of splatter relative to a conventional high speed dental drill. The Convergent Dental R&D Team went a step further and created an in-vitro evaluation of live bacterial content in the aerosols and splatter generated by cutting dental enamel with Solea and with the drill. Not surprisingly, Solea created significantly less aerosolized viable pathogens relative to the drill. Background Solea lasers are used by ..read more

Reducing Aerosols and Splatter for Safer Dentistry with Solea®
Convergent Dental Blog
by Caitlin D'Entremont

Up to 99.9% Reduction in Aerosols & Splatter Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, dentists are understandably concerned with the risk of disease transmission from patient to practitioner and staff. There is evidence that aerosol generated during dental procedures may harbor active pathogens that can infect the dentist or hygienist. Small, invisible particles may contain these pathogens to a small extent, but larger droplets and splatter are likely to contain significant concentrations of these active pathogens and are less easily removed by nearby suction. To investigate how Solea® can hel ..read more
