BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Hamburg man's 11-foot, 750-pound pet alligator named Albert, which was seized by the Department of Environmental Conservation in March, will not be returned to the man before an ongoing investigation is completed, DEC officials said. The DEC is investigating alleged violations of wildlife health and public safety laws and regulations by Tony Cavallaro, the owner of the alligator. Until the investigation is complete, the DEC is unable to release veterinary reports or information on Albert's condition. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A massive award in compensatory damages has been granted to a local family, whose son died after being in the Erie County Holding Center over a decade ago. At least $95 million in damages has been awarded by a jury to the family of Richard Metcalf, Jr. but now Erie County has to find a way to pay that money. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Tesla plans to lay off nearly 300 of its employees in Buffalo, according to a notice filed with New York State on Tuesday. In total, 285 employees are set to be laid off. Of that number, 280 will be employees at the 1339 South Park Ave. building, while five more will be from the location at 1216 South Park Ave. The notice comes as Tesla plans to lay off about 10% of its workforce, which CEO Elon Musk said in a memo to employees earlier this week.
