Hiii! It’s been a hot second — 5 months! — since I’ve shared a Recent Looks blog post with you guys. Thank you for keeping me accountable because I had a few of you chime in to tell me this blog post was overdue! I’ll try to be better about sharing these blog posts a little more regularly when I realize I have a collection of outfit photos accumulating in my phone. The outfit pictures in today’s post reflect North Carolina weather in the spring — some days it’s hot and we’ve had some days where it still feels like winter! There are a few pictures in this recap that are throwbacks I found in my ..read more

Friday is here! Any fun weekend plans? Anyone with no weekend plans and every intent to relax? Sometimes no plans are the best plans! We’re kicking off our weekend with a house full of kids — our boys are all having playdates here today — and are anxiously awaiting Ryan’s arrival back home. Ryan was in San Antonio for work last week and Philadelphia for work this week but thankfully both trips were fairly short and no more work travel is on the horizon for him until June. As for our weekend plans, we are pet-sitting our friends’ bearded dragon (a huge highlight for our boys) and have tickets t ..read more

A Weekend at Wildacres Retreat

Over the weekend we drove a little less than two hours from Charlotte to Little Switzerland, North Carolina for a wilderness retreat at Wildacres. Little Switzerland is a small mountain village (truly tiny) located off the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina. Wildacres Retreat was our reason for visiting the mountain town but we spent a little time meandering through the general store and the cutest coffee shop (Books and Beans — highly recommend!) before leaving on Sunday and were glad we did because both places were so wonderfully charming with a lot of character. We left with latt ..read more

Hi friends! How are you? How was your weekend? Our weekend was fantastic as we spent most of it on a wilderness retreat soaking up unplugged time together as a family. I hope to get my act together enough to type up a recap of everything to share with you guys on the blog later this week but until then, I have my Week of Workouts post to share with you guys for the month of April. I’ve fallen into a groove of at-home and in-person workouts lately and like the variety but really love the way combining at-home and group workouts allows for ultimate flexibility in my schedule each week. The days ..read more

Hey friends! Friday is here and it’s actually my birthday eve! (Is that a thing? No?) I’m turning 39 on Saturday — my final year in my 30s whaaaat — and we’re spending the weekend away as a family. Our plans are a little unusual but I am so freaking excited! Once Chase is out of school today, we’re heading off on a wilderness retreat in western North Carolina. It’s a true retreat with no wifi, cell service, televisions, etc. and we cannot wait. I think the boys will be in heaven and this kind of thing is right up our alley, though we aren’t really sure what to expect! I hope to share more on t ..read more

With springtime BBQs in full swing and summertime cookouts on the horizon, I’m always on the lookout for a delicious side dish to make for friends and family. This black bean and brown rice salad recipe is one we’ve been making and loving in our house for years! The photos recently got a little refresh so I’m sharing it again here and hope you all continue to enjoy it as much as we do!  How much do we all love recipes we can prep ahead? If you’re anything like me, the answer is A LOT. If we’re hosting a bunch of people in our home, the last thing I want to be doing in the minutes before ..read more

A Spring Weekend with Mae and Pop

Our weekend was such a good one but it went by way too fast! It felt like our weekend kicked off early because my parents arrived in town in the late afternoon on Thursday and all three boys were out of school on Friday. It was so nice to my mom and dad in town during our three-day weekend and we definitely made the most of it. Friday Friday kicked off with Ryder’s kindergarten orientation and screening at his future elementary school which was wonderful and, if I’m being honest, a little emotional for me. As it turns out, the second time sending a kid off to kindergarten doesn’t make it any e ..read more

It’s been a hot second since I’ve shared a beauty-related blog post with you guys (my most recent post was my simple skincare routine I shared on the blog last year) and when I realized I have a handful of new beauty finds to share with you guys, I figured it was time for another one! Today’s blog post is more or less a catchall beauty post with some new beauty favorites I’ve been using and loving across the following categories: Nails, hair and skincare. If you’re a regular blog reader, you may have seen a sprinkling of these products mentioned in a Things I’m Loving Friday blog post but hop ..read more

Hey friends! How are you? How was your weekend? We spent a lot of our weekend at home tackling various home projects we’ve had on our radar for months (a gallery wall, for one) but spent the vast majority of our time outside. After a dreary week, it was so wonderful to have a weekend full of S-U-N and we made the most of it with fishing, warm weather walks with Pepper, yard work, kayaking in the lake and basketball in the driveway. It was a simple weekend but a good one. I didn’t take a lot of pictures over the past few days so in lieu of a weekend recap for you guys this morning, I have a rea ..read more
