Today MO raised its quarterly dividend from $.90 to $.94. This represents a 4.44% increase from last year. The dividend is payable on 10/11/22 and the ex-dividend date is 9/14/22. While it would have been nice to see a dividend hike closer to the rate of inflation, MO was already yielding around 8% so this is somewhat expected. Since I currently hold 8370 shares, this will increase my yearly dividends $1339.20 from $30,132 to $31,471.20 ..read more

Today I added to my MO position. MO:  5000 shares @ $41.19 --- Yield  8.74% Total capital invested is $205,950. This purchase will increase my dividends by $18000. This brings my total share count up to 8370 shares. Total MO dividend income is now $30,132. MO has had a rough couple of months and now is down over 13% for the year. The headlines and downgrades have been relentless. It's these time that I typically jump in and hopefully this proves to be a good entry point. I haven't posted this year as I have not been adding dividend stocks after selling most of them l ..read more

December was a fantastic month and capped a fantastic year.  I ended up gaining $20,000 and that was even with the purchase of an engagement ring for my fiance. Maybe I didn't spend enough on it ;)  The S&P 500 finished up 27% for the year. I believe almost 30% counting dividends. Absolutely sensational considering its 15% gain in 2000 and 31% gain in 2019. I read somewhere that since the beginning of 2019 the market has compounded at a 28% clip. Jaw dropping wealth creation. While I didn't quite make it back to the double comma club, I'm still up $18,000 on the year after all ..read more

Yesterday I added to my MO position. MO: 180 shares @ $47.82 --- Yield  7.53% Total capital invested is $8607.60 and this purchase will add $648.00 to my yearly dividends. I now have an even 1000 shares of MO which will provide $3600.00 of yearly dividend income.   I should also mention that I have 12 open $45 MO puts that have been open most of this year. The first 7 expire on Jan 21, 2022 and the other 5 expire in Jan 2023. The assignment of next month's shares would be around $41.50 so it is unlikely that I will be assigned unless MO drops $5 dollars or so during the ..read more

November ended up being a wild ride. Patios, pergolas, landscaping and paying off my girlfriend's car did some serious damage to the net worth.  After counting all the beans I was down just over $69,000 for the month and $1200 in the red for the year. Not bad considering I have spent a ton of money this year.  It will be nice to regain Double Comma status, but living a healthy life in a work optional setting is enough for now. Here are my net worth totals for the end of November. Checking --- $109,770 Savings/Investments --- $290,832 HSA --- $1,550 IRA --- $13,604 401K ..read more
