He was a longtime volunteer at the Camp Perry National Matches in Port Clinton, Ohio, and a dear friend to the CMP. Ric Russell was a familiar face at the National Matches. Towering at 6’8”, Ric was a present figure on the range, ensuring safety and proper rulings during competitions and often engaging in friendly conversation with those around him. The Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Scholarship Committee has presented 142 scholarships to outstanding junior marksmen and women for the 2024-2025 school year. Along with a generous $30,000 contribution from the Garand Collectors Association (GCA), the CMP Scholarship Program awarded $308,000 in new and recurring scholarships to those remarkable individuals from across the country who best represent the ideals of the CMP – 76 one-time $1,000 scholarships, 17 one-time $3,000 scholarships and 24 one-time $5,000 scholarships. The top athletes have been determined for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Three-Position Regional Air Rifle Championship! The event was held in April at CMP’s own air gun competition centers in Ohio and Alabama as well as through the use of CMP’s mobile electronic range in Utah. After an extremely tight race, the winning logo designer was Rebecca Haffey of Fulton, Miss. The Bismarck Mandan Rifle and Pistol Association is hosting a Highpower Rifle Clinic and Matches May 3-5.  Friday afternoon at 3pm will be a clinic.
