Our domain host is migrating to a new company and it is causing some lag and issues with the site while it is doing this. Uncertain how long it will be until all the info is transfered to the new place and the issues to be cleared up.

Sorry to bump such an old thread. There’s a ton of great info in here I appreciate all the feedback. For guys who rut hunt based solely on terrain in areas with little to no sign, is it a gut feeling that leads you to picking a tree? I’d imagine edge and terrain changes factor into the area, but when the “obvious” spots are littered with sign, what makes you look at an area lacking sign and say “this is it”. I think I’m getting better at identifying sign that’s mostly laid down at night but I want to develop the instinct I hear so many people speak of that draws them to better ..read more

For nother mi i prefer pre rut.... Theres too many areas that they can go with a doe you just cant chase.... But pre rut they are going bonkers... Rut i prefer souther Michigan where the deer numbers are higher.... I get better responses from rattling and grunting.... I have a property i designated my rut hunting area... Just seems every year there is something i wanna shoot bedding right in this thick marsh during the rut.... He is probably always there but it isnt til the rut he comes out when i want him to

I think the real key to private is to pre set up all the spots but have a mobile set up for the ones who learn your spots as they grow up, and to not over hunt, hunt it conservatively, let cameras and observations do the work... One of the things you really want to consider is do you pressure your deer more than the neighboring properties...
This philosophy is spot on I think and it has helped me improve the land that I hunt. I've experimented with hunting very aggressive on the private and getting into the marsh close to bedding, and also hunting very conservatively (probably t ..read more

Planted my broccoli and cabbage plants. First time growing from seed and they look like they turned out pretty good so far. Just in time for freezing temps this week. Will water good and cover them at night.
Also mixed in a bunch of compost to this half and it looks a lot better. Should help things grow nicely.
those look awesome jonny!
