Earlier this year I visited Saint Tropez for the first time again as an adult, and did I love it! I always had the misconception it was all bling and glamour. What I found was a perfect mix of a few tourists, but more important, history, beautiful alleys and squares and friendly locals. Dior Cafe turned out to be one of my favourite places to go for an afternoon drink and of course some people watching… Saint Tropez certainly has its own Milanese ‘sciura’s’ enjoying themselves at the terrace with their well dressed gentleman friends. And ofcourse the majestic store with its beautiful stairs an ..read more

When you follow me here for some time you have seen me restyling my kitchen a few times. From an old kitchen I went to an all white kitchen with chrome accents and black painted backsplash in 2012. It was also the year I took down a few walls to make my kitchen twice as big and connected to the living area, and painted everything in a beautiful shade with Little Greene Eight years later I got the chance to work with Cosentino and decided to change my kitchen into something completely different. I installed an IKEA kitchen with dark wooden fronts designed by Norm Architects for Reform Copenhage ..read more

Thinking back on visiting Barcelona it are the beautiful buildings and large avenues that immediately come to mind. When I recently got a sneak peek of the new Aesop store at Avenue Diagonal in Barcelona I learned about the Barbany family of master stonemasons,  that have worked on the city’s edifices and monuments for more than 130 years using Montjuïc stone from the eponymous mountain just outside of Barcelona. This type of stone has a exquisite colouring and is known for its strength. Aesop asked Barcelona based Mesura to design their second Barcelona store, a social timeless and local ..read more

When I was asked to report on Living Kitchen at imm Cologne in 2019. I first heard about this new development in cooking: an ‘invisible’ cooktop, but after that I personally didn’t hear much about it anymore. I was therefore very pleased when I received an invitation to the official presentation of the Gaggenau Essential Induction, a unique new development in the kitchen for which Cosentino and Gaggenau joined forces. Gaggenau, a brand we know for its high-quality household appliances, launched the Essential Induction, an invisible induction cooktop that can be seamlessly and exclusively integ ..read more

When visiting interior fairs this last months I have come across Togigi several times, in Milan at the Adorno exhibition at this years Alcova and at the Baranzata ateliers. But I guess my eye first caught their tables when visiting Collectible design in Brussel, see my report here: Brussel 2024. Togigi is the new Design Atelier by Thomas van Noten and believes design has the power to evoke deep connections: ” It’s the foundation of every piece of furniture we create. Each item balancing on the verge of art, and technology. At our core, we hold a steadfast belief: design possesses the extraordi ..read more

Rue Verte is always one of the stores I visit when in Copenhagen. On the occasion of 3 days of design Rue Verte invited Collection Particulière, Faye Toogood, Meridiani and Destroyers Builders to showcase the best of their 2024 collections alongside their timeless classics, each in their own dedicated space within the store. And in the renovated basement, Rue Verte Design showed their collection with selected made-to-measure furniture. Although I loved the furnished basement last year, the bare concrete space was a great backdrop for the collection. More about the designers and their work who ..read more

One of the exhibitions I was really looking forward too was Enter the Salon in the traditional Copenhagen town house, called The Conary. Furnished with items from Karimoku Case, the beautiful  Origin Made and other brands I heard of before or learned about while wandering through the building. It was one of my highlights of 3 days of design.  A special thanks also to Cherie for showing me around. From the dining room and hallway on the ground floor to the living room, office, bedroom and atrium, the rooms have been divided according to use and colour, with items in either natural Jap ..read more

Looking back at this years 3 days of design, I really wonder how I manage to do a 7 days  Milan Design week every year! I feel kind of exhausted, and I have heard it from many other fellow visitors. Were it the many stairs, the 20K steps every day, or are over 400 exhibitions just to much for 3 days and has the festival grown a bit out of proportion? Nevertheless I really enjoyed my stay and just as with the Salone I decided to do my thing and accept I will probably have missed something here and there. What I love most are the kind of hidden addresses, the apartments and the unexpected e ..read more

Previously I wrote about ArtWorks the unique and moving Pop-Up concept with its changing art and interior objects, curated by Rianne Landstra. After exhibiting for some time at Grand & Johnson she now brought the concept to live at Baden Baden Interior, a creative design studio with showroom in Amsterdam. Baden Baden offers a mix of bathroom-related products, combined with furniture, lighting and home accessories for every room. Artworks perfectly combines with the atmosphere of Baden Baden, and shows how ArtWorks can be applied in your interior.  Throughout the store you will find th ..read more
