I've heard many pundits sound baffled by Brian Cashman's decision to go into the season with no set spot for DJ LeMahieu. I'm here to shed some light into what I think Cash is thinking.
1. Injuries: To state the obvious, it was a miracle the Yankees actually left spring training with all 10 key lineup cogs intact, especially oft-injured Aaron Hicks and Josh Donaldson. The reality is, there's little to no chance the Yankees will make it through all season without a position player injury. As you'll see below, as soon as any starter goes down, DJ will have a secure everyday spot in the lineup ..read more

Outside of the NL Central standings, it was yet another rough go for my predictions. While my statistical predictions almost always exceed the players' performances, Gerrit Cole managed to surpass my expectations for his strikeout total, falling just five K's short of Ron Guidry's now 43-year-old record.

Other than picking the Dodgers in 6 and Gio Urshela's batting average nearly on the nose, this year was another wash.

In what may have been his last start dawning pinstripes, Masahiro Tanaka allowed the Rays to back the Yankees against a wall. But despite emptying the tanks of their elite relievers, the Yankees managed to force a Game 5 with one goal in mind: give the ball to Gerrit Cole.
The richest pitcher in baseball history will get his shot Friday night, pitching on three days rest for the first time in his career against what will likely be a tag-team of the Rays' top tier pitchers, starting with Tyler Glasnow. In other words, the Yankees will try to repeat their Game 1 performance and the Rays will tr ..read more

Before I get into this year's predictions, I just want to say I wholeheartedly agree with Sean Doolittle's thoughts on playing this season: "Sports are like the reward of a functioning society."
That being said, it's Opening Day and I made these predictions with the assumption that they will finish the season (even though I don't think that will happen).
With the help of a Cy Young performance by Gerrit Cole, I have the Yankees finally returning to the World Series but not able to get past the loaded Dodgers. Two words: Miguel Andujar. Put him in left field or at first base and let him rake ..read more
