Is nothing sacred from the transatlantic culture war? We ask this after an American took aim at Greggs sausage rolls – Greggs sausage rolls – and got entirely the brutal comeback they deserved.
The exchange has just gone viral on Reddit where refleksy said: ‘Things are getting spicy…’
Oof.
‘Who was expecting a spicy gregs sausage roll, it’s like complaining Mac Donald’s is bland, it’d cost more otherwise
Smile-a-day
‘Gregg’s sausage rolls have quite a distinct white pepper flavour, anyway. They’re not spicy but if you can’t detect that, your tastebuds are faulty.’

If you are a Guardian reading, advacado eating, Palestinian flag waving, Eddie Izzard supporting Vegan then this clip is probably not for your consumption.

The hair – such as it is – of once (and future?) president Donald Trump has long been a source of fascination.
But we’re not sure we can remember a video quite so revealing – or plain hypnotic – as this, posted on Twitter by the good people of @MeidasTouch.
What is happening with Trump’s hair here? pic.twitter.com/UWe9Oxe2Zf
— MeidasTouch (@MeidasTouch) April 25, 2024
And there was no shortage of people ready to share their theories of exactly what was going on with his hair. And these 17 people surely said it best.

It all started when @mrpwhitley shared what happened when he asked for oat milk in his coffee at Bolton train station.
i’m in bolton train station and i asked for oat milk in my coffee and the lady told me they don’t do that kind of thing here
— paul (@mrpwhitley) April 25, 2024
It prompted lots – and lots – of people to share when something similar happened to them, not always in the north of England (just mostly).
And it quickly turned into one of our favourite things of the week.

You might remember earlier in the week the fabulous mansplaining tale shared by Fleetwood Mac fan @kyylien which is truly a top-notch example of the genre.

And just in case that’s tricky to see in full …
If you’re not a Fleetwood Mac fan then you might like to know that’s Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks on her shoulder.
We mention it again not just because it’s our favourite story of the week – although it is – but because of the sheer volume of apparently furious men who took the t ..read more

It all started when the good people of @PoliticsJOE_UK had a few words with these great British patriots celebrating St George’s Day in central London this week.
“I’m just glad my grandad’s dead!”
On St George’s Day, hundreds of proud Englishmen headed to central London to celebrate all things English – and Tommy Robinson avoiding jail time.

What a week it’s been.
Trump has been trying to persuade the Supreme Court that the President should be able to get away with (literal) murder, Big Ben stopped on the same morning that panicked cavalry horses ran bleeding through London, and a boy doing gull screeches was the least unhinged item on the news.
No wonder we could all do with a break. What better to go with it than 25 of the best posts we’ve seen this week? Maybe a cup of tea and a biscuit, too.
Enjoy.

Full disclosure – we hadn’t come across Matthew Marsden before but apparently he was in Coronation Street back in the day and had a fleeting pop career before finding his true vocation in America.
More recently he’s been in Reacher and has made headlines as an outspoken conservative anti-vaxxer. Which will very possibly come as no surprise when you read this.
And it prompted lots of popular and totally on-point responses, like this one.
