Review: Tales Of Kenzera: ZAU (Switch) - An Emotional Metroidvania That Plays It Too Safe
Nintendo Life

Zau do you do? The best thing we can say about Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is that it’s a decent gateway game into the Metroidvania genre. The Switch is so chock full of incredible titles at this point that it can often be difficult to know where to start (we can help with that too, by the way), but Kenzera provides a relatively breezy 6-7-hour experience that should give you an indication as to whether or not to dip your toes in a bit further. For genre veterans, however, while the gameplay is certainly good enough to see you through to the end, there’s little here that hasn’t already been done els ..read more

Random: Here's What's Inside A Switch Cart
Nintendo Life

Hint: it's teeny tiny. If you've ever wondered what was actually inside a Nintendo Switch cart, then wonder no more, dear reader. Over on YouTube, Tinker Man Mick has uploaded a Short (okay, it was uploaded in July 2023, so we're a bit late, but who cares) to demonstrate that some Switch carts actually have quite a bit of empty space. Cracking open a copy of Let's Sing 2021, you can see that the board within does indeed fill the entire casing, while a copy of Super Mario Odyssey actually has quite a bit of unused space. Now, the video is titled 'Why Does Nintendo Do This?', but we think it's f ..read more

Current Pro Controller may be compatible. According to a new report from Spanish outlet Vandal (thanks, VGC), the upcoming Switch successor - affectionately dubbed the 'Switch 2' - will ditch the rail system for the current Joy-Con controllers and replace it with a magnetic set up. As such, whether the current Joy-Con controllers will actually work with the new system is unknown, as it's reported that the new console will be bigger than the current models, but it's also claimed that the Switch Pro Controller will work just fine. Okay, K.K. Hot off the back of the first collection, LEGO has today announced that it will be expanding its range of Animal Crossing sets with at least two new builds heading our way on 1st August. Revealed in a rather adorable video of a K.K. Slider minifigure blasting his tunes (the vid very kindly points out the minifig "does not actually sing or move"), we get our first peek at a duo of sets which appear to be modelled on the New Horizons Town Hall and Dodo Airlines dock respectively. Nintendo Life

Praise be to HD. El Shaddai is an artistic endeavour in the same vein as Rez or Thatgamecompany’s Journey, taking action genre norms and weaving them into an avant-garde, visual tour de force. Anyone familiar with the ill-fated Clover Studio, a Capcom subsidiary that started out in 2004 developing for the GameCube, will likely have encountered the work of Sawaki Takeyasu; a body including Devil May Cry, Okami, and Gravity Rush 2. In 2006, Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kamiya left Clover to establish Seeds Inc., which would become PlatinumGames through a merger the following year, while Takeyasu for ..read more
