Thanks to the Marler Clark Epidemiology team for keeping up with foodborne illness outbreaks. Candidly, I could not recall any outbreak ever linked to walnuts. USDA Finalizes Policy to Protect Consumers from Salmonella  in Raw Breaded Stuffed Chicken Products  Food Safety, like Politics, is the art of the possible. As of March 26, 2024 a total of 11 people infected with the outbreak strain of E. coli were reported from 5 states – California, Utah, Colorado, Texas and New Jersey. Illnesses started on dates ranging from October 18, 2023, to February 5, 2024. Of 11 people with information available, 5 were hospitalized and 2 developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious condition that can cause kidney failure. No deaths were reported.
