NVIDIA Instant NeRFs need just a few images to make 3D scenes

NVIDIA sees AI as a means of putting new tools into the hands of gamers and creators alike. NVIDIA Instant NeRF is one such tool, leveraging the power of NVIDIA’s GPUs to make complex 3D creations orders of magnitude easier to generate. Instant NeRF is an especially powerful tool in its ability to create these 3D scenes and objects.  In effect, NVIDIA Instant NeRF takes a series of 2D images, figures out how they overlap, and uses that knowledge to create an entire 3D scene. A NeRF (or Neural Radiance Field) isn’t a new thing, but the process to create one was not fast. By applying machin ..read more

If you were among the Windows Server 2022 users who recently spotted a new Microsoft Copilot app added to the list of installed programs, don’t fret - it’s not an actual app, and it doesn’t work.  It's just a mistake on Microsoft’s part, a tail left behind the tests Microsoft ran for Windows Server 2025, recently. As reported by BleepingComputer, Microsoft acknowledged the error earlier this week, and added that it affected systems running Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 21H2, or newer. Shouldn't be visible "Updates to Edge browser version 123.0.2420.65, released on March 28, 2024 and late ..read more

Recently a story made headlines concerning a potential seller finding out just how bad Microcenter’s trade-in value is for a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.  The retailer only offered $700 for a card that’s currently priced at nearly $2000 on its own online store, less than half its original value. And keep in mind that this is a current-gen high-end component, easily the best graphics card out there right now, not something from two generations ago. (Image credit: Wccftech / Mr. Biggie Smallz) Of course, there are several factors involved in trade-in value, including the condit ..read more

At one point in history, a 3dfx-powered graphics card was nearly synonymous with consumer-accessible 3D acceleration thanks to tons of old Voodoo cards back in the 90s outfitted with 3dfx hardware. And now, two enthusiasts are building their own custom version of a classic Voodoo graphics card. Twitter / X users Oscar Barea and Ash Evans have been working on the project since 2022, as reported by Tom's Hardware. Their custom "VoodooX" card is based on the 3dfx VSA-100 GPU, which has been used in many 3dfx cards, including the 3dfx Voodoo4 4500 and Voodoo5 5500. The card uses auctioned-off "new ..read more
