Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
I happened to wander past a brick-and-mortar Talbots store last week and this cardigan caught my eye. The colors are really fun, and the scallop stripes are just a little bit of a break from the norm.
With a pattern this bright, I would probably stick to a neutral color palette for the rest of my outfit, but if you’ve got an orange dress that you’ve been looking to wear, this might be the perfect match.
The sweater is on sale for $79.99–$89.99 at Talbots and comes in misses sizes XS–XL, petite sizes ..read more

Sam Edelman shoes are always a reader favorite, and it’s easy to see why — they’re affordable, trendy, and generally comfortable.
The brand has a bunch of Mary Jane flats out right now — we’ve featured the Michaela flat before, but this newer pointy-toed Mary Jane (pictured) looks fabulous. I’m also eyeing the mesh Miranda Mary Janes!
(Questions I’ve asked myself today: is red springy? Is red patent springy? There are other colors, but I’ve decided that YES, it is something I’d wear in spring, mostly because I love light blue and red together, and light blue is springy. For example, try wear ..read more

I frequently fall down the rabbit hole of updating super old posts, and today I found my way to our previous posts rounding up stylish business card cases for women. Which made me wonder: is anyone still using business cards? (Or business card cases?) If you are, what information do you think is the most helpful to have on your card? (QR code?) Let’s discuss.
(If you are still using business cards, do tell! If you’re buying/designing your own, what companies are your favorites? What is your favorite business card case, or spot to display business cards in your office?)

I’m very into the color of this tweed dress from Misook. It’s not exactly spring-y, but I would seriously consider buying this and hanging onto it for that period in early fall when it’s still warm but you’re ready for the leaves to turn.
If you’re looking for something a little more suited to the spring months, it also comes in a much cheerier “sunset red” and “French blue.”
The dress is $250, marked down from $358 at Nordstrom, and comes in sizes XXS–XL.

Readers recently had a great discussion about how to survive a merger, so I thought we’d round up some of their tips…
The original question asker identified herself as a manager in a small to medium company undergoing a merger/acquisition. She noted that she was staying on, but she’d never been through an acquisition before.
Readers chimed in with great tips…

Something on your mind? Chat about it here.
I’ve been poking around for a new spring coat, and really loved the look of this light blue one from Theory — gorgeous, but pricey, and nearly sold out!
I was looking for something a bit more affordable and found this pictured rain coat, which not only is much more affordable ($189) but also really really highly rated!
I’m in a light blue mood at the moment (see yesterday’s Coffee Break, ha) but this raincoat comes in 10 different colors, in sizes 4-16 (34 FR-46 FR). There are other slightly different versions of this raincoat with different fabric ..read more

I love the easy elegance of this funnel-neck tank from Everlane. If you’re in an office where bare arms are acceptable, this would look lovely with a midi skirt for a fun spring look. If you are in a setting that skews more formal, it would be perfect for layering under blazers and sweaters.
With a high neck like this one, necklaces can be a bit tricky, so I’d stick to earrings or a fun bracelet for accessories.
The top is $40 at Everlane and comes in sizes XXS–XXL. It also comes in three othe ..read more

I love this duck blue color, but the hobo in general looks great. You can see it on the model in the “vanilla” color — I like the way it can tuck under your arm, or be worn in a modern crossbody way. As always, the Strathberry details like the horizontal bar really elevate it.
The bag is $645, available in 4 colors, at Nordstrom and Strathberry.
Looking for something similar but more affordable? Quince, Tory Burch, and Kate Spade all have similar colorways.
