2000 Upper Deck Ionix -- Master Set Complete

Several years ago I decided I wanted to chase a true master set. I wanted all the parallels and inserts and autos. I wanted something attainable but hard but also not impossible. (I will never own all of the crusade reds or anything like that) This did take a while and it was difficult to find everything and piece it together. Alas, it is done. I am not counting the Roberto Clemente Cut auto as part of the set because I probably can't afford it and it may never surface ever.  I did not picture the base set or the reciprocal set. Numbers 61-90 on the base set were short printed 1 in 4 pack ..read more

National Recap Day 5

The end of the show. Overall it was a great show. I had a blast in the beginning and ended on a really high note which I will detail in this post. I decided I wanted to park in the convention center garage today since I was planning to leave right after I got the Don Money autographs around 2 PM (or however fast the line went). I've read quite a few national recap posts in years past (always enjoy them) and it seemed like Sunday dealers who actually want to sell stuff will cut some deals for the things left over. I spoke to a lot of dealers while I was there and I would say 9 out of 10 said th ..read more

National Recap Day 4

The national is like a card collecting marathon. You can tell who has been here the whole time and who is just coming for the day. I know I was real tired last night so I was planning to sleep a little. I didn't have any major agenda for the day except meeting up with a friend and getting a Milt Thompson auto.  I did sleep through the alarm a little and decided to just go straight to Ceasar's to park and not even mess with the around the convention center traffic. That was the correct call. Tons of people were sitting in traffic as I walked the half mile or so from the garage to the cente ..read more

National Recap Day 3

We are more then halfway done the show. It's been great overall so far. I've encountered some unreasonable prices on Ryan Howard cards (Bowman's best auto for 90, thats a 30 dollar card, they will be holding it forever). I offered 50 and the guy said 85. That's not a negotiation, that's a robbery. I walked away.  Before the show today I messaged my old boss who lives in the UK (hi Jack, if you are reading this!) if he needed any Pokemon cards for his collection. There is an abundance of Pokemon cards some dealers, that is all they have.  Jack gave me 3 targets. There is not an abunda ..read more

National Recap Day 2 (tons of pics)

To sum it up if you don't want to read.. Wow! Quite a fun and exhausting day. The day did not start out great. Admittedly, I did not factor in the craziness of the morning. I did not realize how quickly the parking lot would fill up. I woke up a little late but thought no big deal I'll just get in the show 30 minutes late (around 10 AM). I drive to the convention center and around it traffic is outrageous. My philly driving kicks in and I nudge my way into the parking garage.. come to find out the lot is full so myself and a lot of other cars are stuck in the garage literally waiting to ..read more

Been forever -- I still collect - National Recap Day 1

I know I haven't posted in forever. I can't say that I will be posting regularly again anytime soon, but I wanted to document my time at this year's National. This is the first time I am going to all 5 days. My wife and kid are at home so I am on my own. It will be good pace wise since a 2 year old really can't hang all day, but I will be missing  my wife's ability to just say go for it when purchasing an item.  I arrived about 30 minutes before the VIP party was set to start. Thankfully, had no issues parking (I only have the regular VIP so I just parked in the convention garage) I ..read more

Been a while -- Philly show recap

It has been a minute since I have posted. I haven't been super active buying or selling the last few months. Partly because I've been busy with work and family and partly because I was unwilling to participate in the crazy prices. I was unable to go to the card show in September since I was out of town but I was able to attend the Philly Show on Saturday this past weekend. It was pretty crowded, they expanded and added some more tables by shifting some things around. There was a ton of variety in the room. I only had one day so I skipped over looking at the most of the basketball and foo ..read more

The Bryce Harper Experience -- Recap (longish post)

I've gone a while between posts. The Phillies are no longer in first but they aren't out of it. Harper is still hitting well but Hoskins is done for the year which is a big blow to the team. Who knows still might catch the Braves! For those that read the blog, I had the incredible fortune to get my hands on a VIP Transcendent ticket to meet Bryce Harper and go to the event in Philly. I was able to purchase the ticket in July off of a member on Blowout because he couldn't go when they changed the date a few times because of covid.  I arrived at the hotel in good time. I valet ..read more

Phillies in First!

The Phillies are in first at this very moment, so I had to tell everyone. If they lose tomorrow they will no longer be in first so have to strike while the iron is hot.  Thanks to a home run from this guy.. I pulled this card myself back in 2012! I checked out the pricing on Topps Chrome today. I was in sticker shock. 350 dollars for the same content. I can't imagine anyone making money on it unless you hit 10 superfractors. This case in 2012 was 800 dollars if I remember correctly. I hit this card which was obviously big, but I also hit a much rarer card..  These were ..read more

I know I've probably mentioned in every post possible that I need the Griffey Jr Ionix auto. I was hoping someone would reach out and have one available or point me in the right direction. Unfortunately, my blog isn't overly popular (thank you to everyone that does read though, it means a lot to me!) I ended up posting on blowout cards asking for help. I had a Griffey collector contact me after 2 days! I was shocked and happy all at once! He originally said it wasn't for sale but he would help me out to complete my set. I paid a fair price but I believe its the going rate so no complaint ..read more
