Borrow upon any cliche you’d like, it’s almost certainly been a rough week for Kings GM Rob Blake and those in LA management circles. Hell, it’s been an unsettling year. The pitchforks have been out among even the team’s most faithful fans for weeks, if not months. ‘Fire Rob Blake’ was even trending on twitter at one point. For whatever it’s worth, we don’t believe there will be a change in the days or weeks to come. We’re expecting Blake to return as LA Kings GM for the 2024-25 NHL season. Nothing has been announced by the team, this is an opinion. Early next week, there could be clarity tha ..read more

“It’s a pretty simple write-up on this one,” said Kings coach Jim Hiller following his team’s Game 5 loss in Edmonton on Wednesday. Not exactly, coach. Nothing — nothing! — is simple for the Kings right now. There are questions abound; and there will be answers in the days ahead. For now, it’s about letting the dust settle and gathering thoughts, moving from an emotional state to an objective mindset and determining where the organization goes from here. However, in the immediate aftermath of another first-round exit at the hands of the Oilers, here is what Hiller shared during his postgame p ..read more

It’s over, again. The Kings 2023-24 season came to a close Wednesday, as they were defeated by the Oilers 4-3. LA has now been eliminated by Edmonton in three consecutive seasons. Just like they did in Game 4, LA got off to a good start on Wednesday. They grabbed a 2-1 lead early in the second period off goals from Alex Laferriere and Blake Lizotte, both of which were the first career playoff goals for each player. It’s win or go home for the Kings, as they get set to take on the Oilers for Game 5 at Rogers Place. Down 3-1 in the series, LA feels confident that they found their game on Sunday night despite being shut out 1-0 at home. They limited Connor McDavid and crew to just 13 shots and gave up almost nothing at 5v5. They’ll now attempt to replicate this style of play for the rest of the series. As the saying goes, you can’t reinvent the wheel. Special teams have once again had an enormous impact on the series thus far, and it has thwarted LA’s chances at victories.
