Morning friend, Thanks so much for your prayers. The trip to Korea with my daughter couldn’t have gone better. We were greeted with lots of love, and it was wonderful for her to meet her birth parents, siblings, nephew and niece, aunts and uncles and her 90-year-old grandfather. I also got to spend quality time with one of our CONQUER sisters who lives in Korea. I came home with a bad cold, but everything else was wonderful. This week we celebrate Easter, celebrating there is life after death. Resurrection after crucifixion. Remembering that light overtakes dark. So, while you may be in a sea ..read more

Hello, friends! March is a time for renewal and rebirth. At the end of the month, Christians across the world will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a wonderful season to think about the life, mission, and journey of our Savior. Though it was foretold even before His birth, Isaiah 53:5 comes to mind; “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds, we are healed.” He was born of our griefs, carries our sorrows, and still heals our broken hearts. I long for a time when th ..read more

As we step into March, a month synonymous with transformation and renewal, it's a time to reflect on our journey so far in 2024 and chat about the paths yet to be paved. Friends, March is the one month out of our calendar year with a command!  To “March”, isn't just about the physical act of moving forward; it's about the resilience and determination to continue our journey, despite the challenges we've faced. It's a reminder that, with each new day, we are given the opportunity to reflect, restore, and rebuild. We get to set new goals and break new ground. In this spirit, let's embrace t ..read more

Morning friend, Tomorrow (Thursday), I am off to Seoul, Korea to accompany my precious adopted daughter as she meets her biological parents and sisters for the first time. I’d appreciate your prayers. It will be a life-changing experience for both families.   A mom’s heart is always for her children no matter how old they are. Thanks for the robust responses and encouragement from last week’s question on how to help an adult daughter. I firmly believe we need one another and grow stronger together. That’s why I’ve been doing this blog for over 10 years now. The community’s concern, s ..read more

Morning friend, Next week I am heading to Seoul, South Korea. Over 40 years ago we adopted a baby girl from Korea, and she and I are flying there to meet her birth parents and Korean extended family. It’s going to be a trip of a lifetime and I’m so honored that she wanted me to accompany her on this journey. Please pray for our safety and for this to be a time of greater love and connection for both families.  Even after our children grow up, we are always their parents. We still feel protective and care about their wellbeing. Today’s question comes from a concerned mom.  This week’s ..read more

Greetings friends! As we step into February, a month where hearts and love are so often celebrated, it’s essential to pause and reflect on the ‘belt of truth' that girds our lives. For many women, this time of year can be bittersweet, tinged with challenges and struggles in relationships that may not mirror the fairy tale stories of love and romance. It’s a time that calls for us to embrace our own truths, to firmly fasten the belt of honesty, self-worth, and authenticity around our waists. Let's talk about how this belt of truth can empower us, especially now, when the pressure of ‘the love m ..read more

Hello, friends! January hit hard with a flurry of snow and lots of shoveling in West Michigan. I am hoping for something different this month. We can't always know what is next in life, but we often have some ideas about what to anticipate. Whether or not Punxsutawney Phil is correct or not, I know God will bring a thaw in His timing and all things will flourish again. I know I can trust in His promises.  For some, February is the month identified by love, candy hearts, and sappy expressions. For others, Saint Valentine brings loneliness, tears, and grief. This month, I invite you to find ..read more

I just returned from a busy week of work travel. I love meeting our CONQUER sisters when I travel and talking one-on-one with so many women who are freshly learning that they are co-equal image-bearers. That they are not less-than and their purpose is not to prop up dysfunctional, foolish, immature, or wicked men, even if that man is their husband.  Today’s Question: I have been married for 23 years. I met my husband at church and so looked forward to serving the Lord together. About ten years ago after a series of crises, my husband no longer wanted anything to do with God, church, or an ..read more

Happy January, friends! I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday season. I was able to take a little time off to be with family and friends. The pace of life slowed down a little bit, but in some ways, it seemed busier than usual. Now that I am back to the normal routines of my life, I am finding it hard to remember to make time for the changes and intentions I set for this year. I am blessed to have a supportive community to help keep me on track! We can be stronger together and help one another be at our best. I am glad you are reading; I pray you find love and support here with LV&am ..read more
