Thule isn’t one to rush into things, often delaying new hitch racks to put them through longer, more rigorous testing. It’s why we’ve basically never had a problem with anything we’ve tested from them, and why their racks often seem overbuilt. It’s also why they are (almost) the last major rack brand to enter the vertical hanging bike rack category. Come Fall, that’ll change with the new Thule ReVert Vertical Bike Rack. And it introduces a clever new feature to make it super easy to lift and lower. Available in 4-bike ($899) and 6-bike ($1,099), it’s off-road rated and carries up to 55 pound ..read more

Just before Sea Otter, Munich Composites announced the opening of a new factory in South Carolina where they’ll make woven carbon fiber bicycle rims using resin transfer molding (RTM) construction. Boyd Cycling founder Boyd Johnson is part of the group that’s bringing them here and is the first to show off a prototype rim and “sock” using the technology. While these are early samples, they show off some of what’s possible with the technology. The rim’s main structure is woven as a tube, which gives them a high degree of control over fiber placement, type, and eventual thickness. Then other ..read more

Silca’s Josh Poertner gets his new product ideas from the craziest places. Take the new Strip Chips, for example. These hot melt chain wax additives were inspired by the food industry, where they’re trying to find a replacement for trans fats and hydrogenated oils. Turns out, they can make it a whole lot easier to wax your chain, too, by eliminating the need to degrease your chain before waxing! In this episode, we geek out on how that product works, the nuances of wax temperatures for proper chain waxing, and talk a lot about where his ideas come from, what else he’s excited about, and why h ..read more

Fizik call their new Antares Adaptive the latest expansion of their 3D-printed saddle offering. But it’s a bit more than that, as the pro-tour-proven Antares is the saddle that sparked their focus on 3D-printed saddles. And it was the Antares Versus Evo that went head-to-head with Specialized’s Power Mirror saddles for a couple of years until other saddle makers caught up. Now, that core Fizik road racing saddle gets another update… Fizik Antares Adaptive R1 & R3 3D-printed saddles (Photos/Fizik) “Designed for riders seeking a performance saddle that doesn’t sacrifice comfort, the iconic ..read more

Is the Rose Blend one dropbar bike to rule them all? OK, Rose isn’t really trying to eliminate separate road bikes and gravel bikes. But their new Blend looks to successfully have eliminated the tough choice for new dropbar cyclists of whether to buy a road bike or a gravel bike. Why pick, when you can have both! Rose Blend adaptable, affordable alloy road AND gravel bike (Photos/Rose) Rose calls their new Blend a hybrid platform that can be built up as road or gravel. It’s not a huge stretch, as we see even top-tier modern road bikes with mega tire clearances these days. And gravel bikes wit ..read more

Last year, Cinelli used the Sea Otter Classic to let everyone know that they’re back in the US with new ownership, a fresh vision, and big plans. This year, they showed off a new version of the Nemo TIG Gravel II frame that includes a 20mm-travel Hi-Ride Sterra fork. But that’s not the only update to the bike, and not the only new model in their booth… The 2024 Nemo is much more than the same frame with a Hi-Ride suspension fork stuck in it. The frame is made in Milan from triple-butted Columbus steel. The seatstays are reshaped and flattened to improve comfort, with a new bridge that makes ..read more
