What started with Alameda Elementary School teacher Sam Balto on Earth Day just over two years ago has spread into hearts and minds nationwide. This section of SE 68th south of Ogden will get speed bumps and sharrows as part of the project. The Portland Bureau of Transportation is set to build the 60s Neighborhood Greenway. The bureau announced last week they’ll break ground on the project this fall and it should be ready for riding by next spring (if not sooner). The project will establish a three-mile long bike-friendly street along SE 64th/65th/67th/68th between SE Division and the Springwater Corridor. (Portland Parks & Recreation) The new carfree lane recently established on NE 72nd Drive through Rose City Golf Course will likely be a lot busier in spring 2026 when Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) opens a new nature trail planned for the site. According to a kickoff meeting for the Rose City Recreational Trail project held on April 25th, the Parks bureau plans to build nature trails that will circumnavigate the golf course.
