This blog was so graciously written by Niki Kredit, a long time volunteer and friend of Katelyn’s Fund! A Child has been born for us. A son is given to us; authority rests upon him, and he is named Jesus. Isaiah 9:6. Oh that we can remember that this is the reason for the gifts, the celebrations, the music, the gatherings, the decorations, the stories and movies and magic of Christmas. Oh that we can wake up on Christmas morning and hear the Angels singing in our hearts, bow our heads in worship and speak to our king Jesus….. Christmas morning is often full of last minute stuffing stockings, c ..read more

O Come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant. Oh come ye oh come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold him, born the king of angels oh come let us adore him, oh come let us adore him, oh come let us adore him Christ the Lord. This is a popular Christmas carol…..I can sing it from memory and get almost all the words right. I can hum it, I can even sound it out on the piano. It lives under my skin, in the lining of my soul, and yet I can separate myself so easily from the words, the meaning, the purpose of it. Oh come…oh come….oh come. The invitation is profound and open wide for us all…..and not ju ..read more

This blog was so graciously written by Niki Kredit, a long time volunteer and friend of Katelyn’s Fund! I was at Hobby Lobby recently. To my delight I discovered that all of the holiday décor was 50% off! I don’t go shopping very often and very seldom buy anything that is not food or household necessities but I was in a shopping mood. The store was full of festive Thanksgiving and Christmas loveliness and I got bit by the bug for sure! I found some wall hangings that I really liked that were seasonal, which is something I don’t usually change but why not?! The picture hanging in the bathroom h ..read more

November 9, 2023 – A Journey Through a Dad’s Eyes, Jeremy Koerselman & Brandon Huisman  Jeremy Koerselman, foster dad and licensed therapist, and Brandon Huisman, adoptive father shared insight and reflections on their journey.  They talked about joys and challenges they have faced since inviting children into their homes.  Although their journeys have been vastly different, they both encouraged us to take it one day at a time, knowing that God knows the whole story and will be faithful until the end.  The post 11.09.23 Support Meeting first appeared on Katelyn's Fund ..read more

This blog was so graciously written by Niki Kredit, a long time volunteer and friend of Katelyn’s Fund! Psalm 23:6 – Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. The last verse of this psalm of David affirms what he wrote out in the verses prior. After reflecting on how God leads and guides, corrects and directs, nourishes and comforts he can declare with certainty that the goodness of God will be there every time David looks for it. He is rooted in the truth that God loves him. He knows his inheritance and his plan fo ..read more

This blog was so graciously written by Niki Kredit, a long time volunteer and friend of Katelyn’s Fund! Psalm 23:5  – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Louie Giglio wrote a bible study entitled “Don’t give the Enemy a Seat at your Table”. I highly recommend it. There is a 6 week video bible study, a 2 month daily devotional and a textbook. The table that the Lord prepares for us is worth spending time thinking and wondering about. When I prepare the table for a family meal, I first consider the meal I will buy, cook ..read more

This blog was so graciously written by Niki Kredit, a long time volunteer and friend of Katelyn’s Fund! Psalm 23:4 – Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. I have heard it said that we are either in a hard season, we are coming out of a hard season or there isone coming soon…..that may sound rather gloomy but actually I don’t think it is. I think it is a great leveling ground for life. I can’t say “why me?” when times are hard, as much as I should not say “why not me?” when something good is happening f ..read more

October 12 – Holding Fast: Understanding Healthy Relationships and Attachment, Dordt Social Work Department Leah Mouw, MSW, LISW,  and Erin Olson, PhD, MSW, LISW shared on the topic of Attachment Theory.  There are four types of attachment: Secure, Anxious, Dismissive Avoidant, and Fearful Avoidant.  As an individual develops, neural pathways are being created. These pathways affect attachment.  A child’s past experiences may have resulted in insecure attachment; however, there is hope.   There are ways that we, as caregivers, can help our children enter into Earned Se ..read more

September 14 – Living in Reconciliation & Restoration, Faye Holsing & Candi Cox Faye Holsing, adoptive mom, & Candi Cox, birth mom, shared the unique way that God intertwined their hearts and lives twenty years post-placement of their two beautiful daughters.  Although we don’t always see the big picture, God does.  Only He knows the right time for reconciliation and restoration.  They encouraged us to remember that with God, there is ALWAYS hope! https://drive.google.com/file/d/12klH2OkJ1liwc1y-7kdTN58E7RwbJCDJ/view?pli=1 The post 09.14.23 Support Meeting first appe ..read more

This blog is written by an adoptive mom and friend of Katelyn’s Fund, Alissa Kroeze. Psalm 23. I sometimes get frustrated with my kids because they always seem to want something. Different food for dinner, just a few more minutes of screen time, socks that fit a certain way, to go on a summer vacation, to be on a different volleyball team, to have a friend over after school, for their sister to stop looking at them in the backseat of the van. (these are hypothetical of course) Why does no one seem content with what they have? Why do I never seem to be content with what I have? The Lord is my ..read more
