Hey everyone! I noticed it’s been a while since I’ve made a presence here on modernmami. I would say it’s been because of the coronavirus pandemic, but that wouldn’t be entirely truthful. Due to chronic headaches and associated effects from managing my chronic pain, I found myself unable to keep up with the previous pace of work required to maintain this site. But, I am determined to get ..read more

Today marks day 24 of our in-home isolation (or quarantine if you prefer to call it that) due to the worldwide coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Who knew when we welcomed the new year, that three months later we would find ourselves here? The past few weeks have been a mix of fun family time, challenges, learning curves, and stress. I will not pretend that I have been ok through all of it; I have definitely shed my share of tears. It has been tough for me to get used to being home every single day 24/7. I don’t even get a small reprieve from things that often were an annoyance, like driving in ..read more

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.com on behalf of Turtle Beach. With a gaming husband who’s been playing video games since he was a child, it’s only natural that his love for games would be picked up and shared by our kids. Both our teen girl and soon-to-be tween boy enjoy the world of video games – our boy just a tad bit more – and truly enjoy playing along with Dad! As they get older, in addition to couch co-op games, they’re beginning to enter the world of online play, even if just within our house since we have multiple gaming consoles. This requires better gaming audio and mics – a ..read more

That’s coming from someone who’s never been much of a POKÉMON fan – it was popular after I was too old for it, but my little brothers loved it. And now my son enjoys it! I also never imagined it would still be around for this generation of kids…I’ll rephrase that, both kids and adults! Read on to see my top 3 reasons to catch POKÉMON Detective Pikachu in theaters this Friday, May 10th. 3 Reasons to Watch ..read more

Thank you KnowYourOTCs.org and the CHPA Educational Foundation for sponsoring this post with important safe medicine dosing information to keep our children safe! When I was little, I remember there were many times that my parents gave me medicine using a standard eating spoon. If the dose called for a teaspoon, they used a small one and if the dose was a tablespoon, they used the larger (soup) spoon. It didn’t matter the type of medicine – pain reliever, stomach, cold or cough – my mami would say open up and in went the spoonful of medicine. (Just like that Mary Poppins scene, except I di ..read more

Thank you Idahoan® Mashed Potatoes for sponsoring this post. Idahoan® Mashed Potatoes are real potatoes, real easy, delivering homemade taste on demand. Sitting down to eat dinner together as a family each night is truly important to me; this is probably because it’s what I experienced growing up.
