Hi Friends, This might not be the right place to post this but it seemed fitting, feel free to move this if necessary. I am in the middle building a tangential cutter from what once was a Queen Bee Pro kit. I am using all of the motors and drivers from that kit (ill detail it all below) but I have designed my own tangential cutting head with a servo and I am getting ready to wire everything up. I just finished assembling the electronics cabinet and attached is a breakdown of the components. I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone smarter than me can lend some insight on. The kit came ..read more

5.1 gearbox alternative?!

Hi, I have a ez-router scorpion cnc that has 5.1 Cuken planetary gearbox. I’m wondering if there are any alternatives that may work for me? To order one from ez-router is $1000. Ordering direct from the company in china is $189 + freight but it’s very hard to get ahold of them as you can imagine. Here are the specs of the gearbox http://www.precisiongearbox.com/html_products/PF80-SERIES-PRECISION-GEARBOX-SERVO-SPEED-REDUCER-133.html ..read more

HAAS Lathe ST-20y Bar Pusher- Resetting Reference Position- Can't Handle Jog V Axis a

Hello New to the forum and hoping for some insight into a problem I've been having. I need to reset the Reference Position on my HAAS ST-20Y Bar Feeder and I hit a wall. The command G105 Q4 loads a bar, measures the bar, and pushes it just before the collet. After that, when all motion has stop, I'm suppose to hit "RESET" and that allows me to Handle Jog the V Axis(bar pusher rod). However that has not been happening. After hitting "RESET" no movement occurs when manipulating the jog handle(of course pressings what jog rate I want). There is no issue with the bar feeder itself that I'm awa ..read more

Need Help! Weldon Spindle assembly help

I have two (2) weldon endmill sharpeners that a highschool robotic team students dissembled to "see" how they worked. I need to reassemble them. The bearing has been removed from the frame. I had five (5) other spare bearings which they mixed up with the originals. Is there a way to reassemble these things ? I've heating the outer bearing to about 120 degrees with no joy. I'm not sure how hot I can get them or if this is the correct way to get them back together. Are they lapped to the spindle and only fit the original pair ? thx for any suggestions -g ..read more

Shrink Fit....How much induction power?
CNCzone Forum

Hi, I have recently bought a new spindle which has an HSK32 tool interface. I would like to move to shrink fit tooling, but cannot afford a machine to do so. Electronics is my thing, so I could entirely probably make my own induction heater. It sort of comes down to power, easy to make something up to 1kW lets say, but a damn sight harder to build something of 20kW. Does anyone know, or have experience, about the power levels required to make shrink fit tooling practical? Craig ..read more
