April 22 – The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) has joined the UEFA campaign to combat social media bullying with the federations leading players 2023 – Kiril Despodov and Evdokia Popadinova, as well as junior national players Chung Nguyen Do and Steven Gerard Jean Yves Gaote – leading the campaign. April 22 – In a major regional dispute, an African Confederation Cup match between USM Alger and Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane was cancelled just moments before kickoff on Sunday because of a row over the Moroccan club’s shirts. The saga began two days previously when the Moroccan squad arrived in Algeria ahead of the first leg of the semi-final. April 22 – Esteghlal goalkeeper Hossein Hosseini has been summoned by Iranian authorities to explain why he embraced a female fan at the end of a game against Alumimum Arak. Showing affection or intimacy between opposite sexes in public is forbidden in Iran but when a woman ran on to the pitch trying to avoid security and ran on to the pitch without wearing the compulsory hijab, she was reportedly hugged by Hosseini.
