FA Cup Preview: Any potential for upsets in semifinal matchups?
Sportsnet.ca
by John Molinaro

Both games will take place at London’s Wembley Stadium, which also hosts the final.  A Manchester Derby appears to be on the cards for this year’s FA Cup final, but don’t rule out Coventry City and Chelsea preventing that from happening.&nb ..read more

Play-In Preview: Injuries create tighter matchups
Sportsnet.ca
by Kai Gammage

The two opposite sides of the Play-In Tournament have provided an interesting mirror image so far. In the East, a tight and dogged matchup between the Heat and 76ers sent the playoff-primed Miami squad tumbling down to a similar spot they were in last year. Like the Bulls, the Ki ..read more

Not only does the first-round series between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning offer a pretty friendly commute, it also promises to pack a punch — when these rivals meet nowadays, it always does. These clubs first clashed in the playoffs in 2021 with a fast, fun series that saw the defending champions best the Panthers in six and leave hockey fans everywhere clamouring for a seventh. The Lightning went on to win the Cup that year for the second straight season — but not without a few black-and-blue souvenirs from their Floridian foes ..read more

How Blue Jays’ Springer helped Varsho improve swing path
Sportsnet.ca
by Arden Zwelling

TORONTO — Decent little homestand for Daulton Varsho. Over his last nine games beginning with the Toronto Blue Jays‘ home opener, Varsho’s hit .320/.370/.840 with a double, four homers — including his first off a left-handed pitcher since 2022 — and two walks. Of the 19 balls he put in play over that span, 12 were hit in the air and 11 carried an exit velocity over 95 mph to the pull side. In other words, he’s been getting the head out. As is typically the case with Varsho, much of his success can be traced back to swing decisions. Throughout the homestand, he stubbornly narrowed his zone to t ..read more
