Today’s block is a very popular Pineapple block.
The block is 7″ x 7″ finished.
Pineapple template
Download the Pineapple foundation piecing template from my Etsy shop
Foundation piecing paper
I used regular copy paper but you may find it to be a bit thick.
You can use special paper for foundation piecing if you prefer.
Foundation paper ruler
Note: I recently started to use an Add a quarter ruler, the yellow ruler in the video, after some followers recommended it and I have to say it’s a true time saver.

Coin quilts, also known as “strip quilts” or “stack-and-whack quilts,” have a rich history rooted in traditional quilting practices. The term “coin” is used because these quilts often feature strips of fabric that resemble coins lined up in rows, creating a visually striking pattern.

MHexagons rank high on my list of favorite blocks, and I also have a fondness for striped fabric. Combining the two seems like the perfect choice.
Hexagon blocks prove to be both quick and straightforward. Incorporating striped fabric adds a modern touch to the blocks.
Let’s learn with this short video tutorial:
A 60 degree ruler is recommended but if you don’t have one you can always use a square ruler with 60 degree markings.
The quilt is 60” x 59 ½”.

This block has been circulating on the internet for some time.
I’m not sure who created it initially, but I believe it’s a block worth picking up.
It works particularly well with layer cakes (squares measuring 10″ x 10″), and it achieves its best look when used as a scrappy block in a quilt.

You’ll find this block under different names and made with different constructions. It’s similar to the block Star and cross I made a while ago.
The block is very large and I’ve turned it into a table topper or a mini quilt.

This technique was developed by Karin Hellaby. She called it simple pineapple block. It certainly is simple! Other names for this block that I’ve come across is exploding pineapple block.

Quilt as You Go, or QAYG, is a fantastic technique that simplifies the quilting process.
Instead of tackling the entire quilt at once, you work on smaller sections, quilting as you proceed.
It’s a practical approach, especially for beginners, allowing you to focus on manageable portions and experiment with various designs.
With QAYG, you assemble the quilt block by block, making it an enjoyable and achievable way to create beautiful quilts.
Today the tutorial is for a pot holder but the technique wouldn’t be any different if we were making a quilt block.
