“Peaceful Day” presents painting focusing on the changing light and color in views both inside and outside Westfield’s windows. In these observations of the changing light, and mood Westfield creates a shifting but tranquil realm in which to feature her feline companions. Gracing these lovely paintings are portraits of her two cats, Orange and Grey, as they lounge about in the interior space in the shifting light of day to finally into the quiet of night.

“Liu Shiming: Sculpture as Truth,” a richly illustrated talk led by former Art in America Editor, Richard Vine, will trace Liu Shiming’s remarkable personal journey, placing the idiosyncratic artist in the context of postwar sculpture both in China and abroad.
