The driver of an Audi A4 in Wellesley, Massachusetts, has discovered an innovative new way to secure a parking spot close to the door of a grocery store, even when it appears that none are available: by parking sideways between two other vehicles Few details are available relating to this incident, but Wellesley Police shared images and videos of the aftermath of the A4’s monster truck-like exploits on X, formerly Twitter. While one person was hurt, their injuries were only minor. The incident occurred outside the Roche Brothers supermarket, and based on the images, it would appear that the ..read more

Owners of select Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models in the United States may find themselves with a fogged up windshield and unable to clear it because of an issue with the defrosting system. The fault has prompted Jeep to issue a recall for affected vehicles. The recall notice issued through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) specifies that impacted vehicles may have been built with incorrectly programmed hybrid control processor software. If this is the case then the windshield defrost system will be disabled under certain conditions which, as you can probably ..read more

Stellantis Patents Vibration System To Mimic Combustion Engines In EVs

Performance EVs have proved to be quicker to 60 mph than the vast majority of the ICE alternatives, more refined by virtue of having fewer moving parts, and more pliable, offering instant power and torque. However, there’s one thing that even the most die-hard electric zealots will struggle to argue against: when it comes to emotion and character, an EV powertrain can’t harness the same characteristics that make a great ICE so unique. Or can they? If you’re an engineer at Dodge, chances are you may disagree. A patent filed last year by Stellantis showcases a new Active Sound Enhancement (ASE ..read more

Rivian R2 Electric SUV Will Be Sold In Europe Too
Carscoops
by Sebastien Bell

American electric vehicle startup Rivian is poised to enter the European market for the first time with the launch of its third consumer vehicle. Smaller in size and more affordable compared to the company’s current offerings, it’s reasonable to assume that the R2 series of EVs will be a better fit for the continent’s roads than the R1 series. The R1S SUV and the R1T pickup truck have been in production since 2022. Even though Rivian managed to sell 47,200 vehicles in the U.S. last year, the only other market it has entered so far is Canada — and it has encountered issues even there. However ..read more

North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un has added a new jewel to his crown (or is it a thorn in the UN’s side?) following a state trip to Russia. The gift? A Russian-made Aurus Senat limousine, courtesy of his fellow strongman, Vladimir Putin. While the gesture might seem neighborly, it raises eyebrows considering the UN sanctions currently squeezing North Korea. Specifically, observers note that the gift may run afoul of a UN resolution initially backed by Russia. This regulation prohibits the provision of luxury items to North Korea and was implemented to urge the nation to relinquish its ..read more

A major parts supplier for brands including Tesla, VW, and Ford will cut upwards of 10,000 jobs in Europe over the coming five years. Making up for the reduction in the workforce will be an increased reliance on artificial intelligence. Forvia, the 7th largest international parts manufacturer, will slash its European workforce of 75,500 people by 13%. It will do so primarily through attrition and reduced recruitment. In addition to cutting jobs, it plans to reduce costs by making regional manufacturing changes and, using artificial intelligence, tweaking and optimizing spending on research a ..read more

Ford is responding to price reductions in the electric vehicle segment with cuts of its own. The Detroit automaker has lowered the price of its all-electric crossover, the Mustang Mach-E, by up to $8,100 for its best-selling trim. However, the price reductions apply only to the 2023 model year vehicle, partly to clear the way for the 2024 model. The decrease will also help attract buyers, particularly after confirmation that the Mustang Mach-E does not qualify for any federal tax incentives in the U.S Read: Lucid Slashes Air Prices By Up To $8,000 Joining EV Price War advertisement scroll to ..read more

The death of a worker at one of Subaru’s production facilities in Japan last week prompted the carmaker to pause production at three of its plants temporarily. On February 13, a 25-ton mold fell on an employee who had been working at the Yajima assembly plant in the Gunma prefecture for 35 years. The 60-year-old was identified by police who attended the accident scene and Subaru quickly paused work at three of its plants in the Gunma region.
