It’s not every day you see an Airedale in Doggles. This shoot was for a magazine, and the magazine had already gotten flack from readers about ‘dog safety’. So Henri was required to wear Doggles, and be securely fastened to his seatbelt while in the car. I think he looked pretty adorable, what do you think? In 2018 I was hard at work on writing a variety of different guides for new and aspiring commercial photographers. I had initially placed them on my stock website Fetch Stock, but when the demand grew I realized it made more sense to create their own online resource. After Fergie died I created a memorial website for her, which has become a place of healing for me. Losing her is/was the most painful thing I’ve ever gone through in my life, and being able to write about her and find photos for the posts, and record memories of her has been very therapeutic. It has been six months since she died, but I still think about her every single day, and would give anything to have just one more afternoon with her. I was thrilled to discover that the ad agency Rinck’s campaign for Vetriscience was a finalist in the Real Time Media Buy category of the Shorty Awards for weather-triggered ads. The photos used in the campaign came from my shoot with Rinck in Orlando Florida, so it feels great to have played a small role in their success. It was an absolute joy working with the folks at Kriser’s Natural Pet in Los Angeles, Venice and Santa Monica. This is something that I think about a lot, but I realized that I never share it with anyone. Well, that changes now! When I photograph animals, it is my NUMBER ONE priority to not just ensure their safety, but also ensure their happiness and comfort. I photograph animals for a living, not because I love photography so much, but because I love animals so much.
