by Becky Robinson

This blog post is going to be a little different than what you’re used to here at Lead Change. The last year and a half has provided many lessons, and one of those lessons comes in the form of leading change—reevaluating what was, what is, and what the future holds. For us here at Lead Change, it’s taught us that sometimes you just need to pause and open up the opportunity to reset. As most of you know, the team at Weaving Influence took over stewardship of the Lead Change Group blog in 2014, and has been consistently providing near-daily leadership content that all of you have contributed to ..read more

Every Day An Idea
Lead Change Group | A Division Of Weaving Influence
by Paula Kiger
2y ago
When I began coordinating content for the Lead Change Group in 2014, the idea of soliciting, editing and publishing a different piece of leadership material every weekday was a little daunting. I was new to the community. Every contributor was new to me. We were all finding our way. In the process, I learned several lessons that helped me understand why community matters in the first place, why a community won’t flourish unless someone nurtures it and provides structure, and why some of the most powerful leadership material comes from the people who feel least qualified to write it. Put The SERVE Back in Public Service – 5 Ways Government Leaders Can Restore Trust
Lead Change Group | A Division Of Weaving Influence
by Randy Conley
2y ago
Is it my imagination or was there once a time when government service was considered a noble and worthy endeavor? Elected representatives, appointed officials, and even hired employees viewed public service as a calling rather than a job, inspired by ideals such as self-sacrifice, civic duty, compassion, patriotism, and social justice. President John F. Kennedy’s call to “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country” epitomizes these lofty principles of public service. I’m sure there are many individuals in government service who still hold to these ..read more

Lead Change Group | A Division Of Weaving Influence
by Gleb Tsipursky
2y ago
Vaccine effectiveness against the Delta variant has dropped to 39% after 6 months. That makes it folly to pursue a normal office return. Make no mistake about the danger: the Delta surge forecast to grow much worse in the next few months. Indeed, the CDC is asking vaccinated people to wear masks and  recommending booster shots. Yet many large companies and mid-size firms, along with the federal government, are forcing employees who successfully worked from home during the height of the pandemic to return to the office. Over a third have already returned and most of the rest are slated to ..read more

Problem-solving is a natural and important part of business. We say we start with facts, but we don’t. We start with opinions, and the opinions influence what facts we discover. Effective problem-solving uses two kinds of thinking. Divergent thinking seeks out as many options as possible. Convergent thinking selects one option to pursue. Here are six tips for better problem-solving. Get The Story of The Problem Take notes as someone offers the story of the problem. Allow interruptions for other people to add things. Why Teams Get Stuck
Lead Change Group | A Division Of Weaving Influence
by Bill Donahue

My son’s car headed down our 200-foot driveway toward the street. Despite a few inches of snow, the drive was fully plowed and snow melted by the sun. So he was confident navigating the right turn at the bottom of the hill onto the street, like he’d done many times. Or so he thought. The snow on the street had not melted, and was pressed down by traffic.  More like a hockey rink than a street.  As he tried to turn he slid straight across the street into an embankment of snow, engulfing the front of the car.  He was stuck, just spinning his wheels. Teams Get Stuck, Too Teams and ..read more
