KNOT DEAD AGAIN  is out and my editor said that it seemed like another winner.  I did the podcast and it seemed to go well.  And the overlap of projects continued.  I received my copies of the big print version of KILLER HOOKS and I heard from the editor of CLASSY YARNS.  She was letting me know that I'd be getting the edits soon and best of all said that she loved the manuscript.  Always good news. Meanwhile I am getting together the story for the next Molly book.  I really want to write more of it beyond the first few pages, but realized it would work ..read more

Moving Right Along

Not much new this week. I’m still working primarily on one of my new story ideas. Also, I did reserve a hotel room in Toronto for the September Harlequin conference.              Well, something is somewhat new. I’m trying to write on the computer with a splint of sorts on my right arm since I fell a couple of weeks ago and wound up having it checked because it still hurt a bit. Might be a small fracture, so it needs to heal. Ugh! At least I can still type! Oh, and I can still play ..read more

Things Change

Yes, things change. And that includes the formatting of the Harlequin Romantic Suspense books. I received copies of CANINE PROTECTION, the fourth book in my Shelter of Secrets series which will be out in August, and it looks different from the earlier books in the series and all earlier HRS books. It looks good, but it’ll be different on my shelf of previous HRS books.               Why the change? Well, I’ve heard that HarperCollins, which now owns Harlequin, is making changes to its books including l ..read more

Random Thoughts

Along with thinking about Molly's next adventure, I have spent the week working on updating my website.  I have been using the same person to deal with my website since my first book.  He decided to kick things up a little and when he sent me changes to look at, he had made everything look more interesting. It all should be up and running by next week. My web guy sent me the News page for the Yarn Retreat  books and asked if I wanted to change it.  I had forgotten all about that page and it looked it since it featured the first two books in the series and another that ..read more

Happy May, everyone!              I’ve been seeing lots of posts from friends on Facebook about Malice Domestic and, before that, Left Coast Crime, both in April. I used to attend both of them a lot, though working around the pandemic back in the day, but this year I didn’t. And then there’s upcoming Bouchercon, which I’ve attended the past couple of years, but not this year because of some conflicts with family events.           &nb ..read more

Someplace for Molly

And just like that it's winter again in Southern California.  After a few days around 80, the high hovered in the low 60s.  It was back to wearing a sweater and a vest.  The sky is a leaden color, but I don't think it's going to rain. I just sent off the manuscript to Classy Yarns and I can sit back for a minute.  Though not for too long.  I had pushed everything aside as I pushed to finish the manuscript and now all of that is waiting.  The first order of business is to update my website.  It is a matter of deciding what changes I want to make and wri ..read more

Retrospective And Looking Forward

Oh, yes, I had a fun time at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books last Sunday. I saw friends and met strangers who write and read at the Sisters in Crime LA and the Mystery Writers LA booths. And the panel I mentioned last week, Turf Wars: When Cities Rewild, was wonderful! I enjoyed all the speakers and will most likely get around to buying books that most of them talked about, although I had to leave before they did their signings.                I also visited the Hunting ..read more

I finished going through the proof pages for KNOT DEAD AGAIN and sent them in by my deadline.  It's all wrapped up now and will be up for pre-sale probably today.  I love the cover. I immediately went back to working on CLASSY YARNS as it is due next week.  I am working on the ending right now and then will spend next week reading it over.   And then there's the next Molly book.  I needed to push up the deadline for it and as I was discussing it with my editor and told him about the hot water leak and buckled floors, I realized it might turn out to ..read more

More Plotting

Yes, I’m still plotting some new ideas.  I’m also looking forward to the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books this weekend. I’m only going to be there on Sunday, but I’ll be signing at the Sisters in Crime LA and the Mystery Writers LA booths as well as visiting a lot of other booths. I’ve also signed up to attend a panel: Turf Wars: When Cities Rewild. It’s about wildlife returning to urban areas and some people who write about it. For one thing, I’m fascinated that cougars are found in LA, and the freeway overpass for them and other wildlife ..read more

Even with all the chaos here I am keeping on track.  Still just buckled floors with blowers going as the restoration company tries to work things out with the insurance company.   I finished going over the galley pages for KNOT DEAD AGAIN.  It is basically proof reading for errors and little things I want to change.  The way  I handle the corrections is to print the pages that have them and then at the end I make a list by page and line number of changes that need to be made.  I will make that list over the weekend and it will be ready to send in by Mon ..read more
