ST. LOUIS - Two St. Louis officers are hospitalized after they were shot late Thursday night in the Soulard neighborhood. The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday near South Ninth Street and Lafayette Avenue. Investigators say two officers were trying to stop a car possibly involved in a robbery before a gunman opened fire and shot the officers in the torso. EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. - There is outrage after a middle school basketball team from East St. Louis is forced to forfeit a state sectional playoff game after their bus broke down. The team missed a chance to play by just three minutes. The Lincoln Middle School Tigers seventh-grade team was crowned regional champion after beating Vandalia. TROY, Ill. - Relatives of 77-year-old Kathleen Kinkel are grieving the loss of their loved one. They also want answers. They said Kinkel was living with dementia at an assisted living facility in Troy, Illinois, but was able to wander outside when temperatures were below freezing this week. The Troy Police Department reported Kinkel’s body was found near the facility at 8:19 a.m. on Jan. 31. ST. LOUIS - Detectives are turning to technology to help find answers to unsolved homicides. Billboards, posters, and cards created by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department now feature QR codes. Once scanned, the codes lead to information and pictures of murder cases that remain open. Tips or any other information can be provided, all of it is anonymous. Rewards are provided to those who provided information leading to a conviction. ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis man currently facing charges for one carjacking was indicted Wednesday for a fatal carjacking in July 2022. Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Loyse Dozier, 20, committed a pair of carjacking over a three-week period in July and August 2022.
