ST. LOUIS – The mysterious case of Pravin Varughese’s death is resurfacing in the media, courtesy of NBC’s Dateline series. Dateline, a series that originally aired in 2019, has recently reignited interest in Varughese’s death through posts on the network’s social media platforms. Varughese, a 19-year-old student at SIU-Carbondale, died in 2014 after going missing. Initially, an autopsy concluded that hypothermia was the cause of death. OVERLAND, Mo. - The family of a 5-year-old wants to know what happened at school that required a trip to the hospital and resuscitation by the heroin overdose medicine Narcan. The incident occurred on April 26 in the middle of the school day at Marion Elementary School in Overland. LOUIS – A burned, abandoned house has become a hazard in a north St. Louis neighborhood. “It’s an eyesore and it’s a hazard; we have schools over here, kids walking past the bus stop...anybody could get assaulted and drug up in this vacant building,” Patricia Hall, resident, said. LOUIS - It’s going to get louder in the coming weeks as massive numbers of periodical cicadas are emerging in full force. “We haven’t really been hearing them sing or perform yet so we’re probably just at those very early stages of them just beginning to emerge here in the area,” Dan Zarlenga, media specialist for the Missouri Department of Conservation St. Louis region, said.
