How did you develop your unique style?
“My style is reflective of my observations whether I am painting or not. I am constantly looking around at landscapes, cloudscapes, reflected and bounced light around objects in the house, and comparing them to see how I would describe them in a painting. I especially do this after I have been painting for a long session, as if my rods and cones are still activated for a while. I see colors in a way that I don’t usually see them. I don’t think I ever noticed that until after I started painting full-time. It’s like muscle tr ..read more

So thrilled to receive this email today from Fine Art Studios Online/Boldbrush Competition for July 2023! I'm so excited! Entering these competitions gives me such motivation to keep trying to get my work to a level that will put it in front of collectors and dealers. I have learned so much from participating in these competitions, looking at the award-winning works and looking for what is most appreciated in the art world. Thank you Boldbrush!

I have lofty goals, I know! May be out of reach but I am going for it anyway!
I was notified yesterday that the board of The American Artists Professional League was finally able to meet and approved my application for Elected Artist Member. This is a step up from an Associate Artist Membership because my work was juried and found to meet their standards. The AAPL is dedicated to the advancement of traditional realism in American fine art, through the promotion of high standards of beauty, integrity and craftsmanship in painting, sculpture and the graphic arts ..read more

I was very honored to receive the second place award on Sunday, May 5, 2019 for my original oil, "Pure Country". I received such encouraging feedback from my new friends at the Cabarrus Art Guild that the juror, Aimee Perry, had shared with them during the process. Her comments about my brushwork and rendering of depth let me know my efforts are headed in the right direction! Everyone brought such wonderful paintings. I know that she had a hard time making her decision. Each and every painting had something special to offer by way of creative expression and it was a difficult task, indeed ..read more

Painting en plein air provides wonderful opportunities to meet new people and paint in the most unusual of places. This day I decided to accompany my husband during one of his drives to work for a client out of town in Mooresville, NC. He had seen a strikingly interesting barn the day before and texted it to me, however, once I arrived I found a tent of beautiful landscaping botanicals being set up for the spring and summer and I couldn’t resist! The barn could wait for another day! The owner and his wife were very open to the idea of me painting there for the day.&nbs ..read more

Mom was a dedicated homemaker and loved her family very much as stated in her obituary on the Parrott and Ramsey website.

Just returned from the photographer's with my latest painting, "My Quiet Place". On the drive home, I decided to start photographing my own pieces instead of out sourcing that service. Photography is so very expensive, especially when you use a great photographer that understands the nuances of the color correction process and the RGB Color space. I realize every computer monitor is going to digitally convert the image differently. I need the one best image that will look best most of the time. I know many competition jurors will use the RGB Color spa ..read more
