Sunday School, next to the preached Word, is the heartbeat of the church. We should study our Sunday School lesson daily. The Open Door Women’s Department is hosting our first “That’s My Momma” Pre-Mother’s Day Luncheon. This event is dedicated to our ‘mommas’. Purchase a ticket and/or get a group to purchase a table to feature your mother. You can wear specific colors, hats, special shirts/patterns, bring an item, sing a song, bring a framed picture….anything you can think of to honor your mother is what’s on the menu. The Open Door after-school program is currently accepting new students. This program that is offered at The Open Door is held Tuesday-Thursday from 4-6:30pm and is free to all school-aged children (4-18). The program provides homework assistance, tutoring, recreation, education enrichment, crafts, music, drone soccer program, and free snacks and beverages each day. Our food distribution ministry was established in 2019 shortly after we moved into our current facility (May 2018). Also known as Hearts for the People Food Ministry, this team was started by Missionary Gina Andrews and our own First Lady, Shernetta Evans.  With a loving, fun, and dedicated bunch of Open Door members, food is distributed to the community in the parking lot of the church each 1st and 3rd Monday of the month.    At 9am the Gleaners Food Bank truck arrives and delivers boxes and crates of food, perishable and non-perishable. This year marks the year of The Open Door choir’s reemergence. Throughout our musical history the choir has always had concerts, musicals, and special selections. In late February 2020 we had our “Don’t Lose the Sound” concert and due to the discouragement of large gatherings and other impacts of Cornavirus in March, it was our last for several years. We experienced at least a year of no choir until we started rebuilding in 2021.  We’ve sung at church engagements, special services, Sunday services, etc since rebuilding, but haven’t been able pull a concert together.
