On June 23rd, Aaron William Duke was confirmed, and welcomed as an official member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Aaron and Jodi Duke have been encouraged to follow The Journey this coming Fall, as they, and others gathered here, share our faith and make commitments to God in their membership in the Body of Christ in the world. Aaron’s statement of faith that follows shows how our stories are caught up in the story of God and our salvation.  It wasn’t supposed to happen. It was a straightforward surgery that had been performed numerous times before. Yes, there were risks, but we met a ..read more

Worship is a large part of our life together as a church. We best represent that life in our worship services with the many gifts shared through prayer, reading, greeting, welcoming, guiding, and sharing of the sacraments. Our Sign-Up Genius online allows you to get involved as you feel moved—signing up for one or more roles helps our sharing of God’s works to and through us!  It is sometimes intimidating to serve; and often it is fraught with questions: “Am I holding the plate right?”  “Will I come up at the right time?”  “Am I pronouncing that word OK?”  “How do I present ..read more

Extra-Ordinary Time

“For such a time as this.” One of the better-known verses, it is a Hebraism, whose counterpart in Greek is known as “kairos.” Compared with other verses—”to everything there is a season” (turn, turn, turn), or even “now is the time” or “now is the day”—the implication is that time is tied to events and intentions. Not so much that “all things happen for a reason,” but that the movements of God are ordered, or even patterned; they are intended not for us to make meaning of the things we call good or bad in our lives, but to convey who God is and what God is doing in our lives, and life together ..read more
