Happy Saturday! It is the last day of August which means 2024 is now 2/3 complete and time is moving on quite swiftly it seems. This week I had occasion to have some time with several of our grandchildren and we entered into a discussion about we are governed by time and yet God operates outside the realm of time and is not constrained by it.  God choses to enter our time/space on a regular basis ..read more

Dear Seattle Saints,I have come to realize that sometimes inspiration for my weekly note of encouragement comes from the view from my office desk at home.  As I have contemplated this a bit, I realize it is a bit of a metaphor from which we can possibly learn.   Some of the things which I see and even take for granted are always in their place and seemingly never changing.  These would include th ..read more

Greetings from Seoul South Korea,It is Monday morning here (which is still your Sunday night) and we are preparing to travel to the airport for our return trip home later this afternoon.   We have just completed a sweet time of fellowship at our South Korean Camp meeting.   Saints from our six Korean churches gathered at the Seoul church for a packed schedule of services, meetings, prayer, and fel ..read more

Dear Saints,Our young people returned home today from a great week at youth camp.  Lori and I had the opportunity to spend Wednesday there with them and were reminded that the future of our church is bright indeed with the many young people gathered there to learn and worship the Lord (as well as have a great time playing games, swimming, etc.).   A great big thank you is in order to those adults ..read more

Dear Seattle Saints, Greetings once again from Seattle.  I had thought I would try to communicate during my time at our annual Camp meeting Convention but the schedule proved to make it problematic. Thank you for your understanding.   As most of you may know, this year’s camp meeting was historic with the transfer of the leadership of our worldwide Apostolic Faith Church work from Rev. Darrel Lee to Rev. Olasola Adesope.  Bro. Lee had served as the Superintendent General for 24 years and will now continue in an assisting role.  Bro. Adesope is well known by us in Seattle ..read more

Greetings from Seattle (a little early this week because it is a very busy weekend),   We have been blessed with guests from South Korea the past few days and will soon have guests from the Philippines, all in anticipation of our upcoming International Camp Meeting Convention which begins on June 30 in Portland, OR.   That, along with anticipation for our upcoming International potluck dinner, graduation celebration, and Philippine missions video have all caused me to reflect on the issue of hospitality.   It seems that one of the things which we suffered from the loss of durin ..read more

Greetings from Southern Oregon where Lori and I are spending Father’s Day weekend with our son and his family.   This is the place where I was born and where Lori moved with her family when only two years old.  We have lots of memories in this place.  It was in this town where I was saved and also received my deeper spiritual experiences.  It was here that Lori and I were married.  It was here I preached my first sermon.  And it was here that our two older children were born.  It is here that my parents and grandparents are buried.  It was from here that ..read more

Dear Saints, What a beautiful day it has been.  I often say that in Seattle, no one is unhappy on days like today.   Of course that is not technically true because sin, brokenness, sorrow, and pain are not exclusive to rainy days but I hope you understand the spirit of what I meant.   I heard a saying somewhere that went something like “It is your attitude, not your aptitude, which determine your altitude.”   Without in-depth study of aeronautics it is intuitive that an airplane with the nose up is going to go up (with sufficient power) and one pointed down will (even wit ..read more

Dear Saints, Happy June to all.  Today I’ve spent most of the day at my desk in sermon preparation and answering various emails and other communications.  That is not an unusual Saturday for me most weeks and over the past 15 years or so has become the rhythm of life.  Before that when our children were young, I tried to make sure Sunday’s messages and work were completed as much as possible by Friday so I could spend Saturday’s with my family.   With Memorial Day weekend past, this is a time of transition for many with school wrapping up, summer vacations starting, and in ..read more

Happy Saturday, Yesterday, Lori and I took some time to get lunch and sit near the Puget Sound.  During our time there we saw sail boats, seals, pigeons, gulls, as well as a variety of people on the walking path nearby.  Although a bit overcast, we were still able to see the Olympic mountains from time to time and watched a number of aircraft either approaching or departing from one of the many airports in our area. In today’s busy life it is perhaps not often enough that we stop to try to get perspective on what is around us.  While sitting there we talked about how easy it is ..read more
