Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. I hope everyone is well and having a great day. Seems like these days everything is in flux; sometimes that’s just the way it is. My motto these days is straight from the British: Keep Calm and Carry On. I was finally able to get a new…

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. I hope everyone is having a good morning. I usually talk about the weather a bit, but I fear that’s showing my age. Plus, the weather is so strange these days it’s hard to say something coherent. I’m working on three new pieces, but none are finished…

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day holiday. The first recorded Labor Day celebration was in 1882 in New York City. President Grover Cleveland made it an official federal holiday in 1894. Ironically, Cleveland made it a national holiday after twelve strikers were killed when he…

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. If you live in my area, you know that last week was a pretty pleasant break from the summer heat. And you know that today that heat is back. So I hope you all take every precaution against heat sickness. This kind of heat really is dangerous.…

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. Just got back from a lovely bike ride on the Shelby Bottoms greenway. For anyone who has not been on the greenway, it’s an eight mile out and back paved greenway, with the ability to add loops to increase distance. Also, if you’re really gung ho, you…

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. I’ve been out of pocket for the last two weeks, so my apologies for not posting. It’s been a little wild, concluding with the Tomato Art Festival last weekend. I won a minor award for one of my pieces. Always excited to be part of the festival.…

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. I hope everyone is doing well, now that we’ve had a bit of a break from the terrible heat. Strange to say “It feels so nice” at 85 degrees, but I’ll take it.
Here’s Oliver. This sweet guy just passed away after a battle with cancer. He was about to turn 16, and was dearly loved by his people. Many of us did not have that many years with our best friends, so while the loss is so painful, they can be thankful they got to spend that much time with him.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I hate doing memorials because of the circumstances but ..read more

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. It’s another miserably hot day; I don’t do well in this kind of heat. You’d think I’d be used to it, being a Nashville native, but, alas, not so. I hope all of you are staying safe.
It’s just over three weeks to the Tomato Art Fest. For those who don’t know, it’s a huge festival of art, music, crafts and general fun, centered around the tomato, “A Uniter, Not a Divider”, since it’s a fruit and a vegetable. I was a big part of the festival for many years when I had my studio/gallery at the Idea Hatchery at Five Points. I continue to support the fest ..read more

Good afternoon from my studio in East Nashville. Due to circumstances I won’t go into I’m late posting this. Brief weather comment: Stop! We’ve had enough heat! There; now I’ll wait for it to cool down. Right.
This is Bronx, a memorial portrait I did for a sweet client. I’m told Bronx was a great companion for many years, and is sorely missed. I’m always so honored to do memorial portraits, but I’m also very sad they have to be done. I still miss my guys something terrible, and it’s been many years. My hope, as always, is that the portraits bring some peace to my clients.

Good afternoon from my studio in East Nashville. I did not get to post this morning due to a doctor’s appointment. Nothing serious; just took up quite a bit of time. I hope everyone is staying as cool as possible in this miserable weather. Hopefully it will break soon. Maybe we can get August over in June.
Here’s Roo, a portrait I just completed and shipped off last Friday. I was told she had cancer and was ill. I have not heard back regarding her condition, but I hope she is doing okay. So painful to lose a friend.
Sorry for the sad (and short) post. Just too hot to be long winded. Thanks for ..read more
