 “The Church?” The word “church” is a translation of the Greek word ecclesia, which is defined as “an assembly” or “called-out ones”. The root meaning of church is not a building, but the people. “Hallow – WHAT?” Halloween, celebrated October 31st each year, began as an ancient Celtic winter festival.  Later, Catholic’s began honoring saints and the faithfully deceased on this date.  These traditions and religious rituals became melded with European folk traditions.  Many of these Halloween traditions believe that on this day the dead can return to the earth.   Celts lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off these roaming ghosts.  Of course, this is in direct conflict with the Bible.  In the 19th century, Halloween began to lose its religio ..read more
