Does moving house affect your pet?

Years ago, I used to live in California with some roommates in a small house. We had some cats living with us, but they didn’t necessarily ‘belong’ to me. Later on, when I found a nicer apartment in another part of town, I asked the cats if they wanted to come along. The new apartment was more spacious and had a lovely yard. On moving day, I left the door of my van open and told the cats that they could come if they wanted to. Two of them climbed in, but the third one didn’t. (Funnily enough, the cats didn’t enjoy the ride in my van and complained loudly all the way!) When we go through big ch ..read more

We are all animal communicators ― most people just don’t know it

Curious people often ask me, ‘Can we really talk to animals?’ This question is not as straightforward as it seems. Simply because it assumes that unless we use words, communicating will be difficult and lead to misunderstandings. We tend to think that learning animal communication is similar to learning French, Spanish, or another foreign language. Actually, it’s more about practicing what we already know, but more on that later. Thirdly, most people are out of touch with their energetic abilities. Or else, they think these are mystical talents and you’ve got to be specially gifted ..read more

Is your pet lonely? Do this before rushing out and getting a companion animal

Follow my blog with Bloglovin Our animals make us happy and, in turn, their well-being and happiness are of utmost importance. So, if your pet has been giving you those ‘sad’ puppy dog eyes when you leave for work, you might feel bad about leaving them alone. One day you mention this to a friend who suggests getting a second animal as a companion. What a great solution! You scout around for the best possible companion and bring them home expecting life to be wonderful. But guess what? The two animals start squabbling; they don’t become friends or live happily ever after as you had imagined. Wh ..read more

Bad dog! Why scolding your animal doesn’t work – do this instead

As leaders of the pack, it falls on us to guide the animals that live with us. Now, if you’ve tried many techniques to correct an animal’s behavior (and already know that scolding doesn’t work), how else can you empower them? What works, especially with dogs, is using your body to herd them or change the trajectory of their path. In the animal world, a leader is someone who gets the other animals to move their feet. For example, let’s say there are two dogs in your household and one of them pushes the other away and eats their food. In that situation, the first dog is in charge because it got ..read more

Stop blaming yourself for your beloved pet’s last days

Recently I was speaking with a lady who was grieving the loss of her beloved cat. Towards the end, the cat became incontinent and had to be washed clean, which of course it didn’t like. Months later, this lady was still deeply regretful and wished she had chosen differently. Over the years, I have connected with several animals that have passed over and discovered something miraculous — none of them wanted their person to remain sad and unhappy that they had gone. People will hold onto regret and guilt for years; animals don’t. Even if we did something we consider unkind, our pets don’t hold o ..read more

Does your animal’s behavior embarrass you? It’s not your fault

When I was out with my dogs one day, we met a sweet puppy called Bonnie who got so excited to see us that she started urinating. The lady was clearly upset and embarrassed by Bonnie’s behavior. She made a comment like, ‘Not again,’ and quickly left the area. Rather like proud parents, pet owners have many expectations of their cats and dogs. We want them to be calm, cool and collected, mind their manners, be friendly but not bark too loudly etc. These expectations have a huge effect on the joyful relationship you hope to create with your new companion. In Bonnie’s case, her person was torn bet ..read more

Helping your hyperactive dog to find ease and peace

When there is a hyperactive animal in the family, simple pleasures like having friends over, holiday celebrations, or going for a walk can become nerve-racking. Recently I worked with a lady whose dog could not sit still. He barked constantly both when inside the house and in their backyard. Going for walks wasn’t much fun either. This lady was great because she was willing to patiently work with her animal and redirect its behavior. My perspective is there is always a different possibility and I’ve seen the tools of Access create dramatic improvements in anxious pets. What causes hyper behavi ..read more

The trees are talking, are we listening?

There are multiple conversations going on in nature, not audible to our ears. It might seem fanciful to some people that trees talk to each other, but I’ve always had that sense. Science is finally beginning to recognize that trees are social beings. They communicate with their kin, provide nutrients to sick trees, and send warnings when danger is near. To communicate, trees use the fungi network intertwined with their roots. The mycorrhizal network is vital to the wellbeing of the land, and it gets disturbed the most when we turn the earth for agriculture. Every time the soil gets ploughed, i ..read more

7 Easy ways to receive everything you desire

Ask and you shall receive is one of the truths of living on planet earth. It seems so simple and yet, if you’re fiercely independent, asking for what you desire might not be so easy. You’ve probably spent years proving to others how capable you are. Allowing things to just flow to you is new ground. Hopefully, these steps will begin the process of receiving with ease. #1 Ask for advice, not money Gary Douglas, the founder of Access Consciousness always says that if you want money, ask for advice. Imagine you are about to start a new initiative or have an idea for a great business. Yo ..read more

Reversing desertification one day at a time

Earth Stewardship is important if we’re to reverse desertification. Imagine what the world would be like if we embraced earth stewardship! Not as a nice concept, but rather as a pragmatic way of living. Being a steward of earth doesn’t mean we have to bicycle everywhere. It’s about acknowledging where we’re being a different energy that allows the planet to regenerate. Every time you step out of judgment, you’re contributing to the earth. Every choice you make to go beyond this reality is a contribution to our future. The earth has no point of view about what we’re doing, so it’s really up to ..read more
