DEA Reschedules Cannabis to Schedule 3

The DEA has officially confirmed that after a recommendation from an August 2023, that Cannabis will now be rescheduled to Schedule 3, from its current status in Schedule 1. This will be the first major change in the DEA in over 50 years. Cannabis will now be considered to be in the same category as testosterone, anabolic steroids, and ketamine. What this means is anyone’s guess. Rescheduling may allow Cannabis Businesses to begin taking federal tax deductions, which they are currently unable to do, due to 280E. HB 829 Passes out of Senate Committee on State and Local Affairs

Today April 12th,  the Kentucky Senate Committee on State and Local Affairs passed HB 829 out of committee on an 8-1 vote. Bill Cosponsor Representative Jason Nemes testified alongside Senator Steven West for the bill.  The bill now will be brought to the senate floor for a full vote. While the bill awaits a vote, you can call your Senator at 1-800-372-7181 and ask them to vote No on HB 829.
