Dear Black Men, It's not enough that you have to provide the structure, framework, and ear for our emotions, but you have to carry your own. The demands of which role to play I'm sure can be quite relentless. Nevertheless, the demand is still there. Mental illness in black men is… serious. Kanye being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and Kid Cudi’s ominous and open statements of not being “okay” mentally, makes it easy for me to type Black Men’s Emotions Matter. (By the way I love you Kid Cudi) I listened to Rose Golden this morning and it took me back to sophomore year nostalgia. The referenc ..read more

I spent 48 hours in Richmond, Virginia – a hidden gem that effortlessly blends Southern charm with rich history. Nestled along the banks of the James River, this city offers a captivating fusion of history, culture, and natural beauty. The cobblestone-lined streets and tall trees create beautiful nature-made tunnels. You cannot help but appreciate the unique charm that Richmond exudes. The local saying, "Virginia is for Lovers," is evident as I interacted with the friendly and warm locals. What started as a work trip unexpectedly transformed into a quick getaway and fueled my desire to immers ..read more

Welcoming 2023 with open arms! I took the final week of 2022 to reset. Why, because breaks are needed and I am teaching myself that it is okay to take them. I’ve decided to be very intentional this year with my thoughts, my health, my relationships, and most importantly my passions. My theme for January is Engage. The goal is to DO more, see more, and just immerse myself in all of the things that bring me joy. I am reading The Four Agreements right now and it is GETTING MY LIFE! If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. I have been searching for new spaces to read, write, and edit. If y ..read more

My eczema is definitely letting me know that fall has arrived! For me, maintaining an honest skincare routine has always been a priority. More time spent outside makes my skin feel dry. Having eczema makes keeping my skin hydrated especially important to me. In the summer, I typically have moderately oily skin, but during the winter, I notice small patches of dry skin on my cheeks and eyebrows. In addition to moisturizing toners, I have been using hydrating serums and moisturizers. When it comes to skincare, I try to keep it simple. I prefer products that deep clean my face without stripping ..read more

3 Things I Learned While Journaling

I have always been a “journal girl”. During my final semester of undergrad, my mind was all over the place. Immediately upon graduation is when the turmoil began. My post graduation anxiety was in full affect. I had to pass on a dream internship, my car of four years gave up, and to top it off I was not accepted into the school that at the time was my first choice(thank god I wasn't accepted). I found myself at my grandparents house aimlessly searching for my next sense of security. At this point I’d attended several seminars and conferences and each speaker mentioned journaling as something ..read more
