Ease

Hi, it’s me! It’s been a while and for good reason. Life has taken it’s twists and turns which left me feeling peak levels of stress in 2023. As the new year approached, I vowed to invite in more ease into my life which is exactly why I chose ‘ease’ as my word for the year. When I tell you that I’ve been ruthless with this mission, it would be an understatement. Anything and everything that I agree to do these days is run through an extensive series of filters. Does this bring me joy? Does this bring me closer to my life goals? Does this invoke growth? Does this takeaway from ..read more

Recognizing Peace in the Uneventful

Last weekend our little family packed up to escape (some of) the notorious summer heat of Sacramento to enjoy a day trip to our family cabin, nestled on the river. Our loose plans included a lazy afternoon while Bea napped then getting in a nice long 5-7 mile hike in preparation for our upcoming Lost Coast Trail hike.  Count us surprised when the weather was a solid 10 degrees hotter than forecasted (we thought it would be closer to 80°), even as we refreshed our apps while parking. Of course this would happen, we tried to find some outdoor time and continue our physical training for Los ..read more

S L O W D O W N The message from the Universe has been loud and clear. I just wasn’t listening. I continued to push, do, move, go go go. I’m betting you’ve been here too. At the end of September, the Universe made me listen. In the span of a couple of days: I was laid off Got into a car accident Fractured my T7 vertebrae My car was inoperable and landed in the shop for four weeks My personal home computer stopped working Without a job, car, income, or computer it’s safe to say, I wasn’t going anywhere or doing anything. Finally, I slowed down; mostly because I couldn’t really do m ..read more

TCM Earth | Chair Yoga Flow | Hip Opening + Strengthening

What we stretch, we must also strengthen. This is one of the reasons I am continually drawn to yoga. The balance that is required of us is unmatched in any other movement modality I have experienced. In this TCM Earth Chair Yoga flow, we opened our hips while sitting, used our deep stabilizer muscles to balance in tree pose while standing behind the chair, and then we had a deep release through our quads using yoga straps looper around the top of the foot. Get your own yoga strap by clicking HERE! We began the flow sequence seated and worked up to standing behind the chair, using it as a suppo ..read more

Resolutions: A Perspective

As we prepare to head into the new year, a time where we become inundated with messages of improving ourselves in every aspect of our lives, I encourage you to pause and challenge the status quo. I’m the first person to sign up for a hefty goal, and few things can deter me once my mind is set, and what I’ve never put too much stock in, is this first of the year business. First, why do we feel compelled to change anything in the first place? Where are these messages coming from? Did you know that external forces and motivations tend to result in lower resolve? So, unless you’re intrinsically m ..read more

TCM Earth | Chair Yoga Flow | September 19, 2023

Our focus for September is on the TCM element, Earth — for this practice, we focused on the way we move into and out of each asana or yoga pose to notice where we feel supported and which muscles are recruited. This time of year is when we are transitioning from Summer into Autumn, slowing down or contracting, which allows for more space to explore the in between moments. We began the flow sequence seated and worked up to standing behind the chair, using it as a support. Here’s to longevity. xo, Paige ..read more

We're all master storytellers

Why do we tell ourselves stories of being not enough? Where does this come from? Whose impossible standards are we trying to live up to? Moreover, what if we change the story and flip the script? After one of my recent yoga classes, I bumped into a senior student in the cafe while waiting for our protein shakes. During our conversation, I complimented her on her gym bag (if you’ve seen me schlep across SF you know how much a solid gym bag means to me!), she made a comment that exposed one of her deepest held beliefs that she isn’t enough, to the extent that she rattled off several ways in whi ..read more

I’ve recently been invited to lead an hour long chair yoga class at one of the local churches once a week. We are exploring chair yoga to create awareness, increase range of motion, and build strength within the aging population. Our focus for September is on the TCM element, Earth — specifically within this practice, we worked to cultivate a deeper connection with our foundation and tap into our inner peace. Feel free to linger in any of these poses for as long as needed, my recommendation is to enjoy each pose for 3-5 breaths before moving on. Remember to repeat each sequence for both left a ..read more

Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu Sanskrit Translation

The sanskrit phrase Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu supports the prevalence of love over hate. The sanskrit translates this as: May all beings everywhere be happy and free. A more in depth translation can be as follows: Lokah: The location of all the universes existing at this moment Samastah: All beings living in this location Sukhino: In happiness, joy and free from all suffering Bhav: The diving mood or state of union Antu: May it be so For me, this phrase is a daily reminder that everyone, everywhere deserves to be happy and free of suffering regardless of the situation; which bo ..read more

Better Together

Late last year when heavy duty work deadlines were looming and it felt like the walls were closing in, both my work wife (pictured) and I needed something to look forward to.  During one of our one-on-ones, I threw out the idea of getting together for a long weekend just so we could have some time to unwind and decompress from the pressures of work and our personal lives.  At first, we were going to enjoy a shopping holiday in New York City, but we quickly pivoted and came to realize that a warm beach with nothing to do sounded even better which is how we found ourselves booked at a ..read more
