Tlingit Killerwhale Drum - Cove Gallery Ohana Fest in Dana Point, CA The Ohana Fest by Eddie Vedder took place in Dana Point, CA. The music line-up included Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette, Sting, Dogstarr (Keanu Reeves), Devo, and more. The festival included the Cove Art Gallery curated by Charles Adler, where I had 2 pieces. Slowtide just released my 2nd Collaboration featuring a beach towel, and a tapestry blanket. The design is based off traditional Tlingit bentwood box designs. The collection is available worldwide. A portion of the proceeds from the collection will be donated to the Yakutat Surf Club in Alaska.  This directly supports indigenous youth to follow their passion for surfing.  It’s so great, really proud to help support my community in Alaska. Sealaska Celebration is a bi-annual event in Juneau, AK, a gathering of Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people for 4 days of celebration of our culture. There were 1600 dancers featured among 36 Dance groups at this year’s celebration. It was powerful, incredible to see our culture thriving. The youth are a driving force pushing forward. Sealaska Celebration also features a juried Art show, I was honored to have 3 pieces featured, and received an honorable mention for one. “Tlingit horn spoon carving has been declared an endangered art form.  I’ve spent a lot of time studying horn spoons, especially during my Bill Holm Center Research grant thru the Burke museum.  The skill my ancestors had from forming the spoon, to the detail carving in the handles, it was nothing short of incredible sculpture.  I want to breathe life into carving these horn spoons, my heart is doing the traditional pieces.
