The Wyoming Arts Council, in partnership with Wyoming State Parks, concluded the first of two Plein Air in the Parks events at Curt Gowdy State Park on June 23, 2024. After creating work over five days, the program closed with an art show, sale, and awards ceremony that offered over $2,000 in cash awards. This year’s judges were Laura McDermit, Director of Laramie Public Art Coalition, and Alexis Pratt, Superintendent of the Historic Governor’s Mansion and Quebec – 01. The Wyoming Arts Council is excited to announce the upcoming screening of a short film, “A Responsibility to Pass It Along: Traditional Arts in Wyoming” at the Wyoming International Film Festival (WIFF) in Cheyenne. The film will be screened on WIFF’s opening night, Tuesday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Surbrugg Prentice Auditorium at Laramie County Community College. The Wyoming Arts Council announces that a new call for entry for public art is now open. The University of Wyoming is constructing a new building that will house dining facilities, offices, and student residential rooms. Through the State of Wyoming’s Art in Public Buildings program, artwork will be commissioned for the interior of the facility.   A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is open to artists with a deadline of July 12, 2024. The Wyoming Arts Council is now accepting applications from non-profit organizations and individual teaching artists for the Creative Aging Project Grant. The Wyoming Arts Council board will hold a quarterly meeting May 13-14, 2024 at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson. The National Museum of Wildlife Art is located at 2820 Rungius Road in Jackson.
