By Mark Jurgena Advocate Sports Staff Well, it was shot down, again. There were just so many unanswered questions surrounding it. On Tuesday, the IHSA released the results of proposals for the next school year. Among those votes was the denial of changing football to in-season district play instead of the current conference format. Member schools voted 379-272 (with 76 schools voting no opinion) NOT to move football to district play. As a result, there will be no state-mandated changes to football scheduling. County Board discusses culvert replacement around county

By Rebecca Sponsler Advocate News Staff Jeremy Pestle, Bond County Engineer, submitted his mid-December report, which was approved by the board. Pestle states in his report that the cross culverts on Shawnee Rd. and North Woburn have been replaced. Three field entrances have been repaired or replaced. There has also been patching at various locations on Old Ripley Rd. and Shawnee Rd. Pestle also listed the current status of several culvert projects. Trailing 25-23 with seconds ticking away Teague Alstat took a pass from Christian Swalley and buried a three from the left wing to lift the Jays to a 26-25 victory. By Mark Jurgena Advocate Sports Staff Apparently, Santa left the Lady Comets with the gift of energy. Because they got after it from the opening tip. GHS forced seven turnovers and made 13 shots in the opening quarter on their way to a 56-28 win over Sandoval to start the CORL Winterfest outside of Centralia Wednesday morning. January The MG boys basketball team snapped a losing streak by beating O’Fallon (First Baptist Academy) 66-58 at home. Both teams combined for 119 shots on the day.
