MG: Where are you from and where do you reside? SB: I'm from Puerto Rico, and I currently reside in Tampa, FL. MG: Tell us about your journey as an artist, did you always know you wanted to become a full-time artist? SB: Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to become a full-time artist. I had an uncle who was an artist, and we spent a lot of time together. He was the one who taught me how to add highlights and shadows to drawings with just one pencil. I was amazed by all the things you could do as an artist, and I knew that I wanted to pursue it at some point in my life. I didn’t go to art ..read more

Olivia Bonilla is a painter and sculptor born in Vermont. Bonilla received her BFA in painting, with a minor in sculpture from Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Bonilla continues to focus on unconventional materiality, an inventive approach to color theory within sculpture. Cement transforms into the soft and fluffy, resin to irresistible hard candy. Bonilla has recently expanded her approach to sculpture through large installational series and mixed media experimentation. She was a featured artist at the 2019 Affordable Art Fair in NYC and currently on display at The Vendue, Charleston's Ar ..read more

The Miller Gallery recently caught up with Michael James Cisarik, one of our newer emerging artists from Houston, Texas. We are a big fan of his gestural abstracts, and wanted to learn more about his story and process.  Q: How did you first get into painting? A: It actually all began during the pandemic, quite sporadically and unplanned I’ll add. I had moved into a new apartment when the lockdowns hit and after one of my artist friends created a piece for my new space, I wanted to try and began painting in my kitchen as an outlet. After a few months of honing my style and experimenting ..read more
