Assessing one's own work and being objective can be challenging. I know firsthand. However, I started thinking about how artists (and art collectors) assess artwork.  Many collectors are familiar with the fundamentals of the concepts shared in this article. However, I encourage you to look at your art collection. What stands out to you? What style are you drawn to? Are you seeing some of these principles in action ..read more

A few years ago, I was lucky to win a bundle of art supplies from Trekell Art Supplies. One of the items in the bundle was an Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) panel, which was an absolute joy to paint on due to its quadruple oil-primed linen surface. Later on, I discovered that my painting mentor also exclusively uses ACM panels for her work, which piqued my curiosity. Since then, I have switched to using these panels for my art and haven't looked back. Let's examine what ACM panels are and why they are so special.    My “Summer Songbird Serenade” painting on ACM panel.   What ..read more

Heading into 2023, I wanted to focus more on streamlining my business, cleaning up and consolidating my websites, and narrowing down what I really WANTED to do. As a solopreneur and artist, I know how important my website and email list are to my business toolkit. Unlike social media, I control these two areas; they're not subject to an algorithm whim. I knew I needed to bone up on my knowledge and focus on these two this year. Lucky for me, I found three resources that served my head and heart this year. I delved into SEO, email marketing, and calm business concepts. (I am an artist; I don't ..read more
