July is Disability Pride Month! I’m disabled and I’ve got pride! Earlier this month I did a post on mental health disabilities because there was no way I could fit all my picks in one post. Some of these books overlap between physical and mental disabilities.
While I think we should be reading from and about disabled voices all year long, I have been making a conscious effort to read more in the month of July just as I do in June for Pride.
Young Adult:
When My Heart Joins The Thousand by AJ Steiger
A Taxonomy of Love by Rachael Allen

How are we already looking at the third quarter of book releases for 2021? I could have sworn it was still February…
These are obviously just the highlights, but there are some really great titles coming out in the next few months—really the last for the year, give or take. Highlights include new from some of my favorite authors like Jeff Zentner and Erin Hahn, Julie Murphy’s adult debut, and the final book in Helen Hoang’s The Kiss Quotient series.

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey
XOXO by Axie Oh
For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing

Smaller reading wrap-up this month, but I tackled the beast known as The Goldfinch.
Physical:
Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert –
Heartstopper, Vol. 1 by Alice Oseman –
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt –
Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins –
The Goldfinch is a hefty book—coming in at 771 pages. Not the longest book I’ve ever read (that belongs to Harry Potter, of course), but it’s definitely a close second. Donna Tartt is an incredible writer and there is no doubt she deserved the Pulitzer for Fiction. I’ve had this book for a long time but I was quite intimidated by it’s si ..read more
